Go big or Go home!! lol

Ok so racing was going very well..the track was tacky because it rained all day friday and we had a bigger turn out..I won 3 races and got matched up against a truggy with a really good driver.. he was putting down 9 second runs all day and I was at 10 secs..we were dead even thru the first turn and second jump but I nosed high and slapped the front end down hard and had a weird landing...he didnt stick the landing and flipped over, so around the last turn and over the finishing jump I went only to have the truck nose down this time and slapped the front end again..and Kabooooom! But Im sooooooooooo happy..I took out a Truggy!

I knew at sum point those blue knuckles would give me some trouble because were the tie rod connects, it looked like both holes were "drilled out and made them very very weak. They look like the Hot Racing ones on the Red Diablo just modified...

So I have a stock set up knuckles I am gonna use on the rear axles like the Red Diablo and put the rear aluminum knuckles in the front and have 1 spare until I order new knuckles all the way around for both trucks....

everything else is holding up welll...nothing on Jons chassis has broke or failed. So technically Im still undefeated in racing lol...Ill be ready for the 29th.

Congrats on the win. It looks as tho the countersinking of the holes caused a definite weakspot.

I took your advice on the knuckles and axle tubes you gave me on another forum, also ordered 2, version one, Sidewinders with Castle's 4600 motor. Found the systems on Castle's site for a decent price so I couldn't pass it up.

I will probably start a rebuild thread on my Clodzilla 4 chassis Clod.

Thanks again for your advice...

Driving it like you stole it on a win makes the breakage easier to swallow. Congrats on your races

Just like real Monster Jam! Break it and keep going for the win!

Nice job, is there going to be any video of this race?

So what all kinds/types/brands of RC have you beat? In the first video there are a couple that I can't quite make out what they are, but I see what looks like a 4x4 Stampede, Savage, some kind of short course truck. Basically it's a run whatcha brung kind of deal, right?

Cool no problem man...glad you are gonna do a rebuild....Yep that Countersunk hole is the problem...gonna replace them with new knuckles soon, For now Im gonna put the ones in the rear in the front and use stock ones for the rear..

I think my friend Marcus of 505rc got sum video....Yea right now this is a run what you bring class, supposed to be MT but we let 1 or 2 of the guys with SCTs race last time..this time we had Emaxx, Truggy, 2 nitros, 2 stampedes, 2 other trucks (not sure what they are)...Had a bigger turn out this time and everyone loved the Clod.

Enlarge those holes, and or add more.
It will keep that bounce down when you land those jumps.
I think Im gonna enlarge those holes at sum point...thanks

I wasnt sure about the open class at first but now I like it...I had a crowd around my truck before and during the race...some people didnt even know what it was, and when I beat the Truggy it really opened sum eyes...The "Nitro" guys are the funniset to watch...none of them (around here) know how to race or drive it around turns or over jumps....In a straight line they are great, but as soon as they have to "race", they cant keep up because they dont know how to keep the RPMs up and keep it from nosing over on a jump lol.

It is really fun tho and I hope more people show up....trying to get more Clod guys out there

well at least you one so breaking it is worth it. great collection of trucks you have ... i need to build a racing clod myself. have a great donor already for axles too. would be a lot of fun on the track not to far from my house

Here is a vid from the last race...didnt get as much race footage this time, Ill make sure we do next time....I was yapping too much lol

At 3:01 is where I beat the truggy and broke...I made a good turn but that first jump was the start of the breakage..

Thanks for the video! very cool stuff. love my nitro trucks. I have a track about 30 mins. from my house love to go and race there when I have time. The only bad thing is its red clay so your ride gets really dirty! but that's the fun of it i guess. bash it, clean it, repair it and bash it again... .lol

Got my new shocks in yesterday! Gmade XD Aeration 93mm shocks...spent all night building them. Had to build 8 total for both Diablos...they feel great, I used 35wt Associated oil and the 3 hole piston (they come with 2,3, & 4 hole pistons)...Gonna install them tonight when I get home...they look awesome too!

That's a cool upgrade, I was looking at those shocks for one of my projects. Tell me what you think about them, please.

Started working on the Summit Bigfoot and getting the new shocks installed..I left the stock knuckles in the rear for now, Ill replace them if I need to later...Shocks feel really good I might order the stiffer spring to see how it feels, but I love them.

Then the surgery began and Flame Bigfoot...

BEFORE

AFTER

had to replace all the knuckles, cleaned the bearing and the stubs, regreased and slowly put it back together..I think it looks good even without the blue knuckles..I kept having binding issues with the other knukles and the BTA, now they seem to move freely...Once again I like the shocks alot and picking up the stiffer springs...The only other upgrade I want are CVDs..hopefully
