Wraith MT Gearing and Motors

My trans has a 66T spur with 20T pinion, giving me a 3.3 gear ratio. Is this sufficient or should I go 66/16 for a 4.1 ratio? My gears are MOD1 so the sky's the limit as far as options. I would love to have killer torque off the line for wheelies and good speed. What do you recommend and what are you using? I have a 3500, 4600, and 5700kv motor to choose from. I would rather stay with the 3500. It'll be a basher. I don't race.

when you say ''trans'' what brand/model transmission? Or are you hanging out with Eddie Murphy ?

you should be fine with the ratio in the 3.x range. The axles do not need a lower ratio to turn a large tire well.

Heck, even my txt2 trans geared as goofy as tamiya designed it does ok with the AR60 axles.

In mine, I am running an axial trans with a 58t 32 pitch spur paired with a 15 tooth pinion. Only running 2s, and speed is somewhere in the range of mid 20s. For me (personally), its fast enough for a scale MT. Running a 3500 traxxas set up.

I threw one of my 3s in there for giggles, and it was probably 30mph, but I felt it wasn't worth the damage of parts just for speed.

I am more "freestyle" bashing, so short bursts over large jumps, and donoughts. Super fun, and minimal stress on parts (although I just shredded the rear driveshaft last night right at the yoke). Ordered a Junfac hardened steel one today, so I hope that weak link is fixed.

My days of speed are long behind me.
