WK/AX-10 project truck

I love this chassis. For my project, a little more drop in the center would have been nice but since it was made for the Axial rig my choice of transmissions worked out nicely. I only hope my truck building skills do it justice :D.

Mr Spin :tong

The trans is 5mm output, axles are 6mm mind telling the fellers' how you hooked it up. (I've done 2 already before) I know it'll be asked before long.

Ummm, well...I haven't actually hooked them up yet. The pics I posted were just a mock-up, so the shafts are just kinda "on" but not attached. I'll have to follow your lead and use tubing to shim them up to the right diameter.

Quick question: Since the front end of the body is really wide, would it look better if I trimmed back the fenders? If so, how far? I'm going for the old school backwoods look, if that helps. Incase anyone was wondering, yes it's a Gravedigger body, chopped behind the cab. And yes, it will have a wooden flatbed.

Thanks guys!

I'd try just hogging out the fenders first, then if that rubs to much hack them off. I'd use a CD as a wheelwell template.

Looks good!!!:tmb

I love my X-Trail chassis I just need to do some work on it to get done:bang

BTW is that a lexain or hard plastic body? From the picture it looks hard plastic.

Tom, that's an old lexan 'digger body chopped and modded with styrene for the back of the cab. I scuffed up the outside and used auto primer, it'll prolly stay in primer just for that authentic backwoods look. I plan to do some rollbars and a few other details, but not too much since this body and truck will get "used". I'm open to suggestions and ideas, everyone :).

Ok it really looks like a hard plastic body with the primer on it!!

Only suggestion I would have is an interior (can't remember if you said you were doing that) and maybe a toolbox up by the cab or even some down the sides.

Good call on the toolbox idea :tmb. I had to build one behind the cab to cover the spur/tranny area since I'm keeping everything low and close to the frame. I'm still not sure if I like the fenders or not. I plan to do tube bumpers of some kind also. If I can find some scale looking chain, I might add some "pull hooks" and maybe some chains wrapped around them. I'm still trying out different ideas for the wood flatbed, should look pretty decent though. Don't wanna get too crazy though :tong

P.S. I love the feedback, feel free to toss out some ideas:D

Well, progress has been a little slow on this one. Mostly because I taught myself how to braze for this project, which is pretty cool actually. So far, so good. My tube bending skills need some work though. I'm also stuck as to how to mount the servo. I want to keep it in the chassis, mostly for looks reasons. The battery box is upfront, so it would need to be mounted along side or behind it. I'll toss up some more pics this weekend. Maybe my upper aluminum links will be here by then :ack

Thanks for reading.
