Which brushless setup for stupid fast speed

I want my Clod to break each time I nail the gas, I want it to roll every corner, I want it to wheelie over backwards, I want it to make me say "why did I ever want such a fast Clod...please tell me first which setup will do this, and then which one would come close to that but I could save some cash if I used that one.:)

And what batteries, I'm still confused about the different lipo batteries.

Which does it have to be, sensorless or sensored to be able to run one motor in reverse?

Could two traxxas brushless setups work on a Clod?

Thanks:tmb

That really doesnt like fun to me, hope you got a deep wallet cause parts get expensive after awhile. Even the lower motor systems tax parts. I would get pretty ticked if I set mine on the ground and hit the gas and it snapped something talk ruining a day.
Anyrate get the highest castle setup 7700 I believe.

yeah that truck would be no fun to drive or play with.

and yes the traxxas setups will work. they are sensorless. only thing you need to watch out for is the size of the traxxas ESC's. they are freaking huge.

i was always under the impression sensored setups couldnt be reversed but in the new RCCA theres a BL clod with dual novak sensored setups so i guess that isnt true anymore?

Im pretty sure on that truck kevin just removed the sensor cables turning it into a sensorless setup then flipped the wires as you would on a mamba.

If you go for the Mamba Max get 5700's as you won't get so many temp issues and can gear it higher, and they are actually quicker than the 7700's as you can run them on 3cell LiPos whereas the 7700's can only run on 2cell LiPo.

Or you can wait for the Mamba Monster Max to come out (very soon hopefully) and then you can completely wreck your truck every time you run it if you want:spaz

I ran mamba 7,700 in my clod,
stock gearing, and a li-po.
I would not call it stupid fast at all.
Probably mid thirty MPH...

I've got a castle 5700 setup in my old tamiya midnight pumpkin.

Thats got slightly less beefy gears than a clod (spur and diff are very similar in size, the clod has slightly larger teeth), but the gearbox handles the power fine.

You could always install steel gears and thundertech cv joints for the axles to help keep things together.

Mamba Max or Sidewinder

I am going to put brushless in my Clod. Should I put the two mamba Max's with 5700 motors or should I run the new Sidewinder with 4600?

It is cheaper for the sidewinder, but I can only run 3 cell Lipo with 4600; So the question is, how fast would that be compared to the 3 cell lipo with the 5700?

Also, is the sidewinder tuff or should I shoot for over protection of the mamba max because I am putting them in a clod?

Can anybody help me on this decision?
thanks

Im running dual Sidewinder 4600's in my clod with 6 cells on each... it's awesome. I cant imagine it being much faster and still have the great handling and power it displays. I wasn't crazy about the idea of running 12 cells in my Ripper but the power more than makes up for it.

Plus the Sidewinders are nice and small.

That looks hot! How do you reverse direction on the Castle BL system? Is there a way to run a dual motor BL system off of one battery or do you need to run two separate BL systems?

you need to run two BL systems, but it should be possible to run one battery... but it will kill it super quick

to reverse the motor just trade any two wires,
EXAMPLE white to white, red to black, black to red
OR red to red, black to white, white to black
OR black to black, red to white, white to red

BUT NOT white to black, black to red, red to white or any other mixing of three combination (there should be 9 combinations and I dont feel like writing them out)

I run mine on one li-po.. dual mamba 7,700
Doesn't kill it any faster than when you run one pack with 6-8cells with a regular clod set-up.... actually I think it runs much longer than brushed..

interesting, I was just making the assumption since your basically running two setups on one battery
