Where to find and what kind of tubing and solder to use

OK, I haven't started on my brass tube chassis yet so I don't have a tips on technique but here's what supplies I got. All this was recommended by Kong808 and hywntrucker808, two of the best brass tube chassis builder's I know. You can see how well one of hywntrucker808's chassis' holds up by looking in Hermit's Maximum Destruction build in the Clod section. He built that chassis in a couple of weeks and he built the chassis on his Excalibur truck in one day. I don't expect to build mine near as fast nor do I expect it to hold up as well.

5/32 X .014 brass tubing K&S stock #1146 this is appropriate size for most 1/10th scale builds. A good builder uses between 4 and 5 rods at 3ft each depending on the type/design of the chassis. Since I'm new I got 8.:D

Radioshack 60/40 solder. They both recommended this specific solder saying it holds up the best.

Techniques recommended:
Don't use flux just sand the areas your going to solder.
Cope(fishmouth) the ends being joined.
If using a soldering iron get one that's at least 60 watts, but the higher the better.

What does fishmouth the joints mean.Do you splice the end of the tubing and slide it over the other tubing? Thanks Frank:)

It's putting either a "<" or a "c" on the end of the tube so it sits flush with the tube it's being joined to. You cannot do major gap filling when soldering like you can in welding so the tubes must be touching each other for the joint to have strength.
