I saw on the Tamiya website that it was discontinued and I dont want to buy the metalic vesion(too much cash). I want to buy one or preferably trade my nitro buggy(OFNA Ultra LX One in case anyones interested) but dont want to buy the crappy used ones on ebay. Where could I get one?

every so often you can find the metalic version on e-bay from a guy in FL real cheap, even cheaper than tower and a 60.00 coupon code

if you want a stock clod buy the NIB one. if you are going to upgrade start with a used one off ebay. your going to be replacing plenty of parts before you get it to your liking.

Do you guys think it would be better to buy: a used clod, new clod or just a the axle assemblies. And is there anywhere I can get the Chevy grill or do I need to buy a used body.

P.S. I want to keep the stock chassis, body and wheels/tires but want better performance(faster, more wheelies, better suspension)

if you plan on modding one like a cpe or a ttr just buy the axle assemblies, if you want a stocker then buy a new one, it will give you a chance to learn the truck lets face it if you play with them they will break, if you build it then you will know how to fix it

I would order one of these while there still remotely cheap. You're gonna run a lexan body anyway at some point. Put the Metallic one on the shelf and leave it alone for 10 years. It will be the best investment you've made. The new body will probably come out looking newer age and people will still want the old school polycarbonate one. Plus, you get the advantage of black plastics instead of blue. How cool is that.

$260 plus shipping really is better than Tower Hobbies $340.

Ok I found an original clod with original body and everything for $130. Do you guys think its a good deal? Its the 80's ed. with the chevy grill

Just remember that as plastic gets older it loses its strength. Especially Tamiya's plastic. If it is in fact an 80's clod and you have plans on running it hard you might wanna consider finding something newer.

This price doesn't sound too bad but ebay clods can be a gamble. I've bought some that were really nice but others that were described as "great condition" really have had a ton of problems and needed a lot of parts replaced. If you have your heart set on the Chevy body though you don't have many other options than to take the gamble. And as was said above the plastic gets way more brittle over time and the original tires can dry rot, but how the truck was stored has a lot of bearing on that as well. Good luck!
