11 3/4" is the max. wheelbase center to center. It could be shorter.

You can cheat the wheel openings +/- a little on lexan bodies.

Most 10th scale lexan bodies will work. The stampede bodies are to short.

1/4" axles are good. I even use them on my 12# 4wd with 3S.

I use 9 or 10t sprockets, they fit inside 1.5" squ tube nicely.

Your looking for somewhere around 2000 to 2500 rpms at the wheels (at nominal battery voltage voltage, 7.4v for 2S) for a starting point. So gear ratio would change with what ever kv motor you choose.

I think that answers all of your questions. If you have any more just ask.

Here's where I get mine :D

VXB Bearings ... cheaper than McMaster, ServoCity, etc.! Also, get my Class 7 spindle bearings for my mill & lathe here so ... it's very high quality stuff and not those cheap Chinese bearings that last about a year or two and then crap out ... lol.

AVID RC ... don't think you can buy them any cheaper ... $1.00 each :cool (10x for $13.95 ... includes shipping ... crazy low price isn't it)

Hope that helps you out ... good luck with your build ... scratch-built 4x4 is loads of fun ... also don't forget XL series timing belt drive ... much smoother, quieter, and maintainance free compared to #25 chain which isn't roller so it's not a smooth :)

these ...

Here's link ... http://www.lynxmotion.com/p-591-12mm-hex-mounting-hub-6mm-shaft-pair.aspx

12mm set screw hub - $8.00 per pair ... and you'll need to ream the remaining 0.014" because their meant for 6mm shafting but that's not a big deal when your using 1/4" shafting. Unless your a machinist ... I recommend this method.

I make own from 5/8" 6061 round bar ... cheaper but a time consuming process unless you have a 4 axis CNC mill which can really crank them out but you still end up having to tap holes which sucks :emot15:

Here's the ebay number for 1/4 x 1/2 flanged bearings on rcboyz ebay store (230804151061).

What wheels and tires are you planning on using?

What are you using for front knuckles?

CEN Genesis/Nemesis/GST 7.7 Knuckles and axles ... strong as **** and use CVD type stub axles. You need to machine the ends so they slide onto 1/4" shafting and drill and tap for a 8-32 set screw to secure them to the shafting.

Clodbuster Knuckles .... you need to make a custom axle which has a dogbone end on both sides with pins to drive the stock Clodbuster stub axles. This method is a little more involved.

I'm sure someone here can provide you with pics of a scratchbuilt front end to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. ;)
