Looks great Josh. Where does the lower 4-link attach to? Is there an attachment point for swaybars? How hard would it be to modify the program to make the housing narrower, i.e. for the Mad Gear Cliff axles?

If the plastic can hold up and the price is near what the GP axle braces are, you'll have a real winner. This is definitely a better alternative to getting braces.

This is just the top half of the axle. The bottom half will have the lower four link mounts. I'll have to figure out swaybar mounting points yet. If everything works out and they hold up, they should be alot cheaper than braces.

Got a chance to work on the housings some more. Coming along pretty well. Still a lot of details left, and some trick stuff too. The production ones will have a much better finish. I haven't hooked up the heated printing bed, and these were printed on the 'standard' setting. I'm able to print the axles hollow with webbing on the inside, so they look a lot heavier but are actually very light.

Wow! If these work out, they will be by far the best looking RC monster truck axle ever. Do you have plans to incorporate a servo mount on top of the axle?

Nice axle, are you gonna keep printing them for production run or print a few and make a nice mold out of them? Just curious, cause it seems like a cast would be more durable? and keep costs down?

Looking forward for them to be tested tho,to see how they will hold up

The axle looks sweet. How long does it take the makerbot to print a half? A buddy of mine has a home built reprap printer and it takes a very long time to print anything. Are you going to try with ABS when you get the heater bed setup?

they are sharp looking but not a fan of gp parts.

the thickest possible hardend 1/8 diff's and shafts would suit them even better :p

Not sure how the PLA plastic will hold up yet. I'll get a set made up soon and do some bashing. They are made to fit GP guts and hubs.
is it hard for them to fit axial knuckles so they fit clod wheels without wideners ? just hate the width of the GP

I don't think it will be that bad. The GP guts are very strong so that won't be a problem. The width is what helps brake the stock gp housings. Hopefully these will be strong enough to handle the abuse. Just get the Heese clod gp knuckles and your set. Just wish I had a set or ten of these now.

The last ones I printed were on the standard finish and they took 6 hours. The fine setting will be a lot longer. Seems like a long time but I print them while I'm sleeping. Its like Christmas morning when I wake up! I chose to use GP guts because the stock GP axles are terrible, but they are cheap and there are plenty of people looking to upgrade. I'm staying with the stock width so everything drops in. If you run clod tires you'll have to pick up some spacers or Hesse knuckles. I prefer the Hesse knuckles because it keeps the width more scale. I changed a few things already, splitting them in different spots, adding gussets and other little things. Everything is taking longer than planned. I cant draw nearly as fast as KingKlod!

The Hesse knuckles are $80/pair I believe...a lil too much when u need 4 and if u get an adaptor its still the same problem with bein too wide....the axles will be better but the width is still an issue....IMO

I will be testing printed knuckles that will fit clod rims. I'll beef them up as much as possible but i'm not sure how they will hold up. But if the price was right, you might not mind having to replace them once in a while.
