What retro trucks are you planning on bringing??

The rules do say must be 1/10 scale vehicles. Aren't the WK and Axial considered 1/12 scale?
Mike I do know the wheely king is considered 1/12th scale (wish they would have made in 1/10th though!) But if its built with a different trans, Revo shafts, custom chassis, 1/10 scale body, 1/10 scale wheelbase and clod size tires what vehicle is it really? At that point it has been built into a 1/10th scale truck. I something seeing the creativity that have come out of these retro trucks its amazing. Really makes me want to do something different with mine.

Just show up with them and say that they're 1/10 scale 2.5 ton axles. Scale is such a subjective thing anymore - a stock clod is about true 1/10 scale and it's a massive truck. The Stampede is also classified as a 1/10 truck. Quite a bit of difference there.

I agree eric, if a person did all that you do have a 1/10 scale truck. This class is about creativity, follow the few rules we have for this class and build a replica of a truck you like, plan and simple. Thats what I did. The scale realism is what drew me to this class, the trucks are top heavy, don't handle that well, and bounce around alot just like the real ones did back in the day. How many classes can you run a stock clod against a full custom chassis truck and be competitve? You don't have to spend a ton of money to run this class (unless you want to). You don't have to build a truck like mine to have fun. Take a stock clod, paint a body for it and race it. Simple. Anybody that has questions or needs help let me know. We need all the retro trucks we can get. I know I am not the only one who likes old school trucks. At the rate I am going I will need help driving all of mine!

Jamie you can get Wendy to drive...LOL

You know I didnt think of it when I posted but who would know if they were wheely king axles or crawler king axles? Crawler kings are 1/10 scale axles but with the exception of the mounts they are the same.

I do still wonder has anyone everyone put leaf springs on a clod gearcases?

Anyhow...I need to put up some pics of what I have of my Krimson Krusher truck so far. That truck has been stalled out for quite a few years now.

I dont know how they consider a stampede to be 1/10 scale when a stampede body fits a 1/12 scale wheely king like almost perfect?

Don't know to be honest Jamie. Unfortunately my family is going through a lot and til everything is settled on this end I cannot make any plans just yet. I have had a tough couple years and keep saying to myself next year is going to be better......

I don't want to turn this into a "boohoo me" post so I will keep it at that.

The event sounds like it is going to be a great showing of R/C monsters from the discussions. I wish Bari the best for his efforts. It's a massive undertaking for sure and I hope if nothing else everyone will appreciate that for what he is doing for us and the sport in general. Everyone that attends will be making a part of history, have the opportunity to meet fellow RCMTers to put a face with the name (screenname), see first hand what setup they are running in another part of the country/world for that matter.

So for now the answer is no; i will not be attending.

Tim, your Bigfoot retros are just awesome man!!!!! Can't wait to see them in person again. Have you ever thought about building any others from the Bigfoot fleet? I'd love to build a III!!!

Eric, I look forward to seeing your Krimson Krusher truck. Have you thought about asking Terry Plum to paint it?

Oh for the love of all that's holy, why haven't I seen this thread before? Geez Ace, your retros are coming along beautifully! That Bully looks absolutely spot-on. Fantastic custom work there. Well, I might as well reveal that I'm building a KK1 since other members are doing (or have done) their own as well. I'm hoping to have a little more custom work done to mine though to stand out. The build is still in its infancy, but Jamie is hooking me up with the chassis and I can't wait to see it. I'm also finishing up a project soon that I've been collecting parts for for a long time now. It will be sort of my homage to the Clod's 25th anni.

Rear Steer?

So I am starting to formulate my plans for a retro truck for this (hopefully my schedule cooperates). Just kind of curious as to how many guys are running rear steer on their retro trucks? I know there is a fairly small minority that run it on full blown race setups but with the slower sppeds of the retros seems like there might be more rigs running it....yes/no!?!

Also the hitch requirement, it doesn't actually have to be one of the after market pulling hitches correct? Just ahve to have attachment point for the sled?

Thanks in advance for the info!

Heres a shot of my First Blood retro truck. This has been built since the second exhibition retro race back in fall 2004 (I believe thats right) Anyhow I could have put up a better pic but this shot on the back of the dragster from this last summer is cool considering its Rob Fuchs drag car!
