ok, as it states i burned up 2 stock motors 27t saturns and a 21 t fireball, i know fireballs are junk, thought i would try one anyways. the saturns brushes fell apart both times, got too hot to even touch. melting brushes? should also say im using a 7cell pack. the saturns lasted for maybe 7-8 packs each. i have a few of the t600 motors on the way, says there ok for 8.4v

How many runs using 8.4V did you have on each motor? We're using 8 cell packs with the stock motor/ESC and haven't fried anything yet.

Is anything binding up on the truck that would add excessive heat to the motors?

ive had the king for little over a month now, with the stock pack it was ok until i put a 8.4 3600 in it, think it lasted about 7-8 maybe a few more and burned up, the last saturn was the same. brush came right of, motor was too hot to handle for 10 minutes. extended chassis and imex all-t's locked rear diff, nothing binding though, esc gets pretty hot too but still runs. 21 93 gearing. when i took the last one apart looked like the commutator was kinda burnt. would gear mesh make that kind of heat if it was too tight?

21 93 gearing.
A tight gear mesh will add a good bit of heat but your gearing is way too high for that set up. With the At's, 8.4v and locked diffs you will need to gear down a lot! Try running 15/96, it will be slow and you will probably still get that esc hot.

I ran a 4600mah 7 cell pack in my stock king for a while. Nothing burnt out but i got bored.
Now i run a 7 cell with a no limit esc (it barely gets warm) 24/90 gear ratio and a 19x1 600 size motor. Sometimes the motor gets really hot when doing hill climbs ect but i've never fried a stock motor or one the 600 size ones
If the motor gets too hot though you need to gear down

I agree with the gearing down responses. If you're stalling the motor by trying to climb and staying on the throttle or blasting through tall grass or running hard uphill, you'll overwork the motor and burn it up. I fried a few motors myself at first. Remember, four wheel drive and big tires makes the motor work pretty hard. Even with my brushless setup, the esc gets pretty warm at times. If you're going for more speed, consider getting smaller tires. The truck will be more responsive on the throttle, and the smaller, lighter tires will lessen the load on the motor. Otherwise, gear down. Go with a 96 tooth spur if you don't mind losing the gear cover. You can always trim off the sides of the cover to fit a bigger gear and still have some protection.

Also try the "paper trick" to set your gear mesh. Because to tight will cause motor heat-burnout.

Get a sheet of notebook or printer paper and sandwich between gears then tighten motor. Turn the spur to shoot it out. You should be able to hold the pinion and rock the spur feeling play in gear teeth, if not loosen and try again.

You should have a tiny bit of play between the gears, and check in a few spots incase your spur or shaft is not 100% round.

The spur gear on my Rustler VXL is lopsided at one point. Took me forever to get the mesh right. I was up all night with little strips of paper everywhere.
Turns out the slipper clutch wasn't tight enough and that's what was making all the noise. Seems to be fine now.
That's not the reason I was up, I just couldn't sleep and was messing with stuff to keep occupied.

ok, when i get the 600 motors il be gearing down. the last one that blew i was climbing stuff and stalling it out at times so i guess thats probably why it blew.
