#39 or what ever corresponds to the tap size is. so the # means it's a machine type size bit. so if using a size 3-30 tape you will need a #39 drill bit to match the size of the thread if you try using a 11/32 or 1/8th on. drill bit it's to big, and you'll be striping the plastic out of the rod end. if a 4-40 I think uses a #41 drill bit. but for like most common rod end like on a scx10 kit will need the 3mm set screw, also the jato rod ends will be the same as the axial links also. the long revo links will be 6/32nd size ready rod. know if you want bigger than that you can go the hd revo rod. that you can do an 8/32nd thread. or even bigger rod ends can start going into 1/8th scale stuff that will take like a 10/32nd thread. me I like using course thread in plastic, and fine thread in steel. if this doesn't make any sense I'll get my drill index in the morning and see exactly what the sizes are with a set of calipers.
