Hot Racing 30-50mm wheel wideners. Had lots of options here but these looked interesting. $29 bucks and lots of options stateside so fast shipping. They were way to tight, would not go together and I was very worried initially but turns out just needed 800 grit sand paper on barrel nuts and on Hot Racing axles previously installed on rear for steering lock out. Just used a drill to do this and didn’t take much work on each piece to fit properly.

Biggest risk here and may be regretting it already. Only cost $38 bucks shipped from China so nearly 3 weeks to get. Shipped in a small flimsy cardboard box in a lightly line shipping envelope. Looks just like GOOL stuff that I had success with until I hooked up a battery backwards and smoked the esc but motor still works very good. Higher motor temps than Castle or HobbyWing but not ridiculous levels either on that GOOL stuff. Anyways of course no directions, auto programming and I can’t see any type of reprogramming option. It does work, starts slowly and builds power but very little speed. Guessing comparable speed to Traxxas training mode. Definitely not 5200 kv wheel speed. Gonna look into it more and recheck radio settings but might just throw in an old Novak GTB I have sitting on the shelf.
This is the system I was using. Even though it’s a 10.5 think it was only 3800-4000 kv and got my speed up to about 19 mph. I never used the turbo mode setting with no fan on the esc. I did play around with the turbo mode just to see how it works and did seem to get a substantial boost but came in like hitting a nitrous button. I see there’s a turbo timing delay and is adjustable but seems stupid for a vehicle like this. Need to talk to some racers to utilize this option on whatever i end up putting this in.

HPI body post’s. Not easy to get, you may pay more for shipping than the actual part. Luckily I have a very good hobby shop nearby with a large inventory.
Crawford Performance Engineering’s sway bar kit. $9.99 plus shipping.
Think this is T-Maxx parts. Gonna cut these down for driveshafts. Used these when initially modified wheel base from stock Wheely King.

Final reveal, lots of body choices but I picked a Traxxas stampede Bigfoot body. $39 bucks already painted and stickered and Silver fits the overall scheme. Wheelbase maybe just a touch long/wide but with the 5200 kv motor it should get to 25-28 mph so any extra stability will be welcomed. Should be a little faster than a stock Slash or Stampede. At 19 mph it handled pretty descent other than high speed turning especially when turning in on the brakes. Will update after I run it a little. Remember I already updated the drive line with HD differentials, modified transmission to accept a Traxxas slipper clutch assembly, aluminum transmission gears, GPM front CVD’s, Hot Racing rear steering lock out axle tubes. Traxxas T-Maxx driveshafts. While I really like the looks of aluminum axle parts I haven’t broken any stock plastic parts yet. Have a full set of spares for now so we will see if the added speed/power takes a toll.

Sooner or later I will address the gear cover issue. After installing the Traxxas slipper clutch the spur gear sits farther out
away than stock one plus the gear is thicker so just drilling a hole for the longer shaft and adjustment nut and spring and somehow covering that hole won’t work. May redo the shaft with a new one and cut and drill in different spots to pull it back in then it should be pretty easy to modify stock cover.
While I’m gonna enjoy this for awhile i got this body and wheel combo (except white rims) in mind down the road. Gonna cost $200 bucks though so no rush
If JConcepts ever does a Renegade, Firestorm, Golden year 2.2 tire this is one of my favorite trucks and that Traxxas body is a perfect match for it.
