Vintage class questions

I have a few questions regarding the vintage class clods. First off, what are all of the requirements for these trucks in racing? I want to build up my clod to work with this class because I have a clod with a sassy chassis and really don't want to stick fast motors and whatnot into it because I have other vehicles for that. Also does anyone have a website with good info on any of the oldschool monster trucks that I might be able to model my truck after? Or can these vehicles just be made to look like oldschool monsters?

I forget most of the rules. I belive monster mayhem motors are the fastest thing you can run. Body must be a 90 or older truck. Can't be 4 linked those are the bigest rules I remember. Post in the nrctpa section for more. Here is the best place to find photos of monster trucks. If you find one you don'k know if is legal just ask.

Do they really have to pull? I'm talking about the old school monsters like what Tim Powers built, all the old school fords and whatnot

The weight is just about nothing but yes they do pull.

We have not pulled at every event but we do pull the sled. Its really not to hard on the truck. We just run 4 cells and stock gears with either stock 540s or mag mayhem motors and they do just fine. Its great to see all the old trucks replicated. Hope to see you at an event.

We only put 25lb in the sled and most of the trucks pulled it just fine.
(All you have to do is add the 5th cell like everyone says I do and you have it made)

Do the trucks have to be replica's of early monsters, or can there just be one made up to look like it was a retro? Also does anyone know of a place to still get mag mayhems?

It has to be a pre 1990 actual Monster Truck. If it is not A well known truck, you must bring a picture of it to show us that it was a real truck. Alot of guys use the picture as part of the display during concourse. The whole idea was to replicate what the old trucks did, and we wanted to keep the newer race trucks out of it. Hope this helps

the kicker is that there were a few four-link trucks before 1990 and that throws those trucks out :( shame because taurus 3 and bigfoot 8 are two of my favorite trucks!

hopefully by the worlds i'll have a retro truck, seeing as how they're not too expensive dollar-wise to build since they're mostly stock.

And don't forget Master of Disaster too....mostly because i loved the murals lol

but from what i remember; they repainted Bigfoot 4 to match 8 when it was bannerd by TNT for the 8 or so races as they stated "to let the competition catch up"...... so that paint sheme would work on a Retro.

Ok thanks guys! Ive been searching that database for the past few days now, and I think Im just going to do the original bearfoot. I also found that Hooters Racing sells mag mayhems, but theyre 30 bucks a pop, how much of a difference in speed is there between them and the stockers? Or is it a better idea to go with good stock racing motors? Also, does anyone know someone who can do good vinyl graphics from a picture off the internet? Reason being is Im not good at airbrushing anything crazy like the graphics it has. Now I need to get some new clean white clod wheels, get a new clod body or toss the one I have into brake fluid, and start polishing up my sassy chassis. Hopefully it will be done by MJ in August!
