The venom would probably be fast for as long as it holds together with the brushless. Once you add larger tires, it's unlikely that it would hold very long.

The ground pounder is designed to handle bigger tires and bigger power.

The ground pounder is a definitely AWESOME buy...3ch 75mhz radio system and at 250 bucks is a hell of a deal for an MT. Holds up to brushless pretty good with a couple modifications as are seen in the Ground Pounder section of the forum. For what you pay for, for that truck it's definitely worth it.

There was an Axial monster truck build in the member rides section, I'm not sure who did the build but he used one an Axial Scorpian and put Maxx M/T wheels and tires on it. It actually worked pretty well. I think the thread is titled Scorpian King...

As far as building a Venom up, I've never had one in front of me. It looks like a fairly stout truck so it may work out for you. As far as building for speed you will need to pay attention to the gearing and play with it a little.

You know you can get a Wheely King w/o electronics (motor and servo installed only) for about $130, right?

Do you mean the Creeper???

That is a crawler, you'd have to do a lot to make a monster out of it. You'd have to add well over 150 bucks to even get close to a stock GP

I just purchased a Ground Pounder, the radio is decent feeling. The fact you can push a button to switch from 2 wheel steer to 4 wheel is really cool. It took me less than an hour to install the "Tad brace" to be brushless ready.

For 250 bucks the GP an awesome start to building one heck of a monster truck.

-Buy the GP, you know you'll be able to get parts easily, even if it cost a lil' more initially---that's why you'll see so many Caterpillar & John Deere Machines & tractors that are from the 50's-60's, and still in full-time use today, it's easy to get parts for them:tmb
-Also, The GP is new, and that means there's bound to be tons of aftermarket parts due, specifically for it, and parts that already fit it (bodies, etc.):)

The Wheely King is fine, but just a little small. It's designed to wheelie, and it does that very well. The Ground Pounder is bigger, faster, and has more features; but also comes with a slightly higher price than the Wheely King or Creeper does.

Crawlers can be converted to MT racers, but it's not as simple as putting a replica body on them as the suspensions are set-up for crawling.

If I were choosing ONLY between a Wheely King and a Creeper, I'd get the Wheely King 4x4. Good luck!

I was asking the same questions when I started to get back in to clods and MT racing. I liked some of the chassis designs and 4-link setups that crawlers had and thought it would be easy to make them an MT.

Now I'm working on my 2nd clod. I will have about $100 bucks into my roller. There are deals out there on used axles and chassis'. A little bit more and you can go with new axle assemblies or buy a new chassis.

The Ground Pounder looks cool also. And enough people already have found easy upgrades to make them brushless worthy and you can fit pretty much any tire/wheel combo you want.

If istretch the wheely king and put the battery in front it should not wheely that much. But can it take the brushless.Plus can the creeper handle a brushless.

We will be making updates to future runs of Ground Pounders to address as many issues as possible. I'm not certain all the updates will make it to the 2nd run of trucks, but we aren't leaving the trucks exactly as-is.

I know the WK cannot handle brushless stock

A stock WK has just a couple major issues, slipper and spur gear are both weak. Servo saver is VERY weak. (9.00 to fix) . To see the WK slipper fix see the WK Faq I put the slipper fix in there.

I think the money difference between the RTR GP and WK roller is less than 120 bucks. But once you start fixing all the week spots and making the WK bigger you spend that 120 bucks and then some.

What exactly do you want out of your buildup? If you want a race style truck, and have the coin, by all means hit up the Ground Pounder. It has just as much potential plus a lot of things that the Wheely King doesn't have out of the box.

Wheely Kings are fun yes, but like will said you need to spend some $$$ on it before you start dropping in BL motors and such. You would definitely want to flip the battery tray, get metal gears for the transmission, wheel wideners, stretched wheelbase, new shocks etc if you wanted it to handle well with brushless power.

That's why I employed Will to build my 14.8v BL TXT-1... IT has a lot of those things stock. Granted it's heavier and mucho more expensive, it will be just fine for my application. :ack

I have a Venom Creeper as well as a Clod and TXT-1. I can tell you that all are great trucks and the Creeper is a steal at the new lower price. The Creeper is a great crawler but would be a horrible racer/basher the chassis and suspension have way too much flexibility. I would go with the GP or maybe a used TXT.
