Velineon question

Does anyone know if the Traxxas Velineon system has the capability to run one motor in reverse in a dual-motor truck? What I mean is, if you ran 2 seperate esc's, one for each motor, could you run the front one in reverse without any issues?

That feature isn't built into it that I know of.

What you need to now is if you can just reverse the + and - on the motor. Will that work on a brushless system with the third wire?

Thanks for the reply William:tmb . BTW, I believe we know someone in common. A guy by the name of Hammer (JF). Ran into him recently at the LHS. My good friend and racing buddy is dating his daughter, and I've seen him and talked with him many many times at the local r/c tracks. Small world.

Ah, Joe. I have known him for a long time, done a few deals, I believe he bought my old Clodzilla way way back. Great guy, and a even better RCMT supporter even from before I owned it. :tmb

i know the velineon ecs has a few lipo cut off problems, a lot of people over at the traxxas forums use the motor but then get a different esc. or get an external lipo cut off. another thing the ecs has a version 2 where the motor leads are directly soldered to the ecs and have a short connector coming off the esc and the first one has plugs on the ecs for the motor wires, the problem was that the plugs were coming desoldered from the ecs.

Dont be fooled by the 3500kv tag, the VXL motor is a power house. I'd be suprised if anyone needed a hotter motor than that.

Yeah, (2) Velineons are plenty bad in a Clod! I have them in my Terminator and they run just on the edge of out of control on a 8 cell 5000, and are outta control nasty on a 5400 11.1v Thunder Power! I'm sure there are way nastier setups, but I can't see using more power! Mine will do a double backflip from stand still on carpet and 11.1v!

To use them, you just reverse any (2) of the wires on one, and that one will run in reverse no problems!
