Driveshafts for a double dare would be easier to make than the usa-1. A stampede wheel shaft will fit into a double dare steering block with a slight bit of dremeling. So then all you would have to do is make the outdrives and the drive shaft itself shorter. Il take a pic of the steering block for you.

Thanks!
My garage:big brute, double dare and enough spares to make one of each
Sassy Chassis with the top plate
Thorp outdrives and axles (2 sets)

if thats the case can you just get 2 front DD steering blocks and two rear carriers and ditch the usa-1 unit?

Man, geez the last time I posted in this thread was 2011.... We're has the time gone. Anyways it looks like I never mentioned if the driveshafts actually worked, and they did. I only made a set for the rear of the truck but they worked great. I wish I had more info or pics, but I've lost the old pics of the truck. Unfortunately I sold that truck a very long time ago as we'll. However there's a very good chance il be recreating those driveshaft this year and maybe even improve on them, if I can. I really want to build another modified A-1 and these driveshafts will be key to it.

Hello, thanks for the reply, the conversion is the essential Key for going brushless...

I started to make this kind of drive shafts. For that I bouhgt used traxxas dirive shafts which one of them I cut into length ... But I am really not satisfied if I should move forward and destroy a drive hub or not. The shafts seems to be a little bit to short at all.

A month ago I was on the hunt for more information and for this conversion..but in the meen time I bought HPI Savage Flux...now lost my focus on this Mod, also lost intresst for going brusshless on my Brute.

I read also about the idea to use Tamiya grashopper parts....but no futher information about this.

I will try to share share some photos

How do you still have big brute tires? Mine melted sitting in a closet. Not flat spots, melted and disintegrated.

For the last time, Your oven isn't a closet!

Seriously though, how did that happen? I have all sorts of old tires and none of them have ever melted. Most don't even have cracks.

Maybe because were i live its almost never really that hot?

Gonna try these for my usa-1.
Though they are only 4mm in closest to the car. Perhaps they will end up like corkscrews :)

They are rear axles for an Axial ax10 I think. Not original though. I just cut them of to get the right length. They fit almost perfect in the hubs, 5.1 mm in diameter so I had to grind a bit to make them fit.
