I was out working in the lawn today and an older guy pulled in the driveway. I recognized him from the neighborhood but I've never met him before. He got out and asked me if I was the guy who had the R/C trucks. I told him I was and he said, " I have an electric Traxxas truck I want to get rid of. It's like the gas one you have but electric instead." So I tell him that I'm weeding down the collection and I'm getting into on road but I might be interested. He asks me what I'd give for it, and I tell him that I'd be more comfortable if he set the price and let me decide. So he says, "Well, the thing is like brand new, but I'm sick of looking at it on the shelf. What do you think about $50?"
Frankly I was a little stunned. Kind of stunned like the time I found the Rustler at a garage sale for $3. Well, maybe not that stunned...
So, I said I'd be interested for $50, but was he sure he'd only want $50? He said yeah, he just wanted it gone. So he went home, brought it back, and needless to say he wasn't lying about it being nearly new. It's a 3906 model (blue) with just a couple scuffs on the front skid plate and one scuff on the body. The plastic still has that new plastic shine.
I asked a few more times if he was comfortable/only wanted/was sure that he'd take $50. Finally he looked at me and said, "Well, if you think that is too much shoot me an offer." So I reply, "I'll give you $15," and he took it! Ha...kidding, just seeing if you were still reading. I told him that I was more than comfortable with $50 and the deal was done. I got a couple battery packs, charger, tools, manual, and spare parts to boot. He was happy that I bought it and my son was geeked about the truck. I got a great deal so I guess it worked out for everybody. Now I have to get a Digger body on this thing...
