TXT Servos -- Hitec 805BB 1/4 Scale or 7950TH / 7980TH

Hi All,

I am turning my TXT-1 into a crawler and will be using Axial Narrow Rockster Beadlocks along with Proline Trenchers for Bashing and RC4wd X-Locks or Proline Moabs G8 for Crawling.

My TXT-1 current is @ 17" wb and using Tmaxx shocks. I have a HPI 7.4:1 Gear Reduction with a Stock Tamiya 540 motor being driven by an old school Novak Super Rooster ESC.

I also have a few random old school motors to try: Kyosho Magnetic Mayhems (x2), Kyosho Lemans 600e, Tamiya Black 540 Endurance Motor.

I am trying to figure out which of the following servos to use

Hitec 1/4 Scale 805bb -- 343 oz/in tq @ 6v
Pro: $40 Price:tmb
Con: Size! :bang

Hitec 7950 -- 403 oz/in tq @ 6v
Pro: 403 Tq :tmb
Con: Price $120!

Hitec 7980 -- 500 oz/in tq @ 6v
Pro: 500 Tq :tmb
Con: Price $150!

I'd like to buy the servos ONCE... Any thoughts?

Thanks,
-Steve

Your first link led me to a Hitec HS-5625MG Digital High Speed Metal Gear Servo which only has a measely 130 oz/in of Tq.

Your second link led me to a Airtronics 94162Z High Torque Ball Bearing Servo which has a little more torque at 6v of 154 oz/in of Tq.

Thanks for the information though neither are better options in regards to Torque... Cheaper yes...

I'de say the 7980 would be your best bet. on a side note, you might want to look into a bec to help power those big servos, otherwise you run the risk of overloading the esc's bec and killing it.

I have a Novak Super Rooster ESC and I will most likely get Castles BEC to power just the servo -- $20 is much better than dropping another $150 for a new ESC!
