I am building up my txt with what I think are the best parts of these three trucks. I am using the TXT chassis and tires, emaxx transmission, revo driveshafts, mad force kruiser VE axles, and original mad force rims.
The TXT was always my favorite truck, but the axles are just too weak. With the brushless motor, you could grenade the differential by breaking that stupid spider gear shaft. If not that, then the counter gears that don't fight tightly on the shaft are just too sloppy.
The madforce has awesome axles. They have hardened helical ring and pinion 1/8 scale gears. The diff is sealed, and can use thick oil so I can tighten up the rear. The shafts and bearings are larger, much simpler gear configuration (there is just the ring and pinion), metal knuckles, and large hexes. The problem is with its center drive shafts that always fly out, weird suspension setup, small slipper clutch, TERRIBLE awful steering and I just don't like the way it looks. Really, the steering setup is useless.
The maxx transmission has a really good slipper clutch, and I would like to put the 2 speed parts in eventually. The revo driveshafts are light, cheap and easily available. They can be cut to size, and there are aluminum ends available to fit the 8mm shaft on the madforce axle.
I have shortened the wheelbase by using the inner holes on the bottom of the txt chassis. I also narrowed the axles by cutting the long side to the same size and the short side. I will need to buy a set of short dogbones to finish the axle mod. I wanted the dimensions to be closer to a stock TXT or even clodbuster. The madforce is very long and wide.
I would like to get the thundertech racing stiffener plates for the "ladder bars" or 2 link? suspension. The plastic flexes too much. I will also add 4 wheel steering eventually.
