This is my first time building a tube frame for the clod, but this isnt my first try at frame building. I built a wire frame for a clod a long time ago and decided this time to make it more scale. I am using the 3/16" brake line that i picked up at a swap meet. The tubes have been cleaned up with a wire wheel grinder fluxed before using mapp gas to apply kester silver solder. The problem is every time the solder is applied the solder just runs right off the tube and doesnt grab on. I am starting to wonder if the silver solder i have is not right or there is something wrong with it. I even had some old silver solder that i used on the last project and while it would grab better then the other solder it would just chip off once it had cooled. Not really sure what is the problem, plus the silver solder i had used before is really taking alot of heat to get it melt, the frame is being held in place with nails and they are turning bright red and almost melting before the silver solder liquidfies. I dont remember having this many issues the last time i did this, so any suggestions will be appreciated.
