Tires/rims

I am in the proces of building my F350. In short, the tires are a little too small for my taste. Looking to go a little taller and wider. I am not finding many rim choices. I do have a set of tires from an old "Big Bear" which I think was a Tamyia product. Any rims availble out there for those tires? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know much about the Big Bear tires, meaning size, but RC4WD carries a few taller 1.9 tires that you can put on.

Also you need to decide if you want beadlocks or just regular rims that you would have to glue tires on.

Beadlocks are more expensive, but then you don't have to deal with glue and you can change the tires easily.

Axial and losi both make 1.9" wheels and tires. Another company to check out is Pro-Line. 1.9" tires really don't get wider. You would have to get 2.2" tires to get more width.

Just to give you an idea, here are the 1.9 Proline Flatiron tires on my brother's F350. They are mounted on HPI stockcar wheels.

Tires

Hi, I'm building a 350 also and am trying to decide on tires, I want to stay with what looks like they could be purchased at any garage for a real truck....The Tam. tires are @ 94mm high x 32mm wide. I have narrowed it down to two possible tires for my project , Integy's All Terrain Off Road @ 105mm tall...(no width given) or RC4WD's Mud Thrasher's @ 99mm tall x 36mm wide, both tires look similar and they remind me of a type of tread pattern that was produced in the days of the steel belted tire. The only concern I have is as I build this truck I plan on adding a trailer, and I have no idea of the sidewall strength of these tires. I don,t want the tires squating to the rims. Does anyone have expirience with these two tires?????

Hello Rygar. :) Welcome.
The stock Tamiya tires that came on the F-350 are going to be much stiffer than the Mud Thrashers.

Never tried a set of the Integy tires so I could not tell you how stiff the sidewalls are on those. The old BF Goodrich Radial Mud-Terrain T/A tires (part #9805481) are going to have the stiffest sidewalls of any 1.9 tire although they are not as tall as the integy or RC4WD tires.

Mud Thrasher on the far left, Tamiya BFG on the far right.

RC4WD tire testing.

Hi Again. I got a set of 1.9 Mud Thrashers and put them on, They're pretty neat tires..sticky!! Soft very soft, I have to firm them up somehow as I plan on hauling a trailer. I'm still building this truck and have done quite a bit toward functions and scale appearance. Trying to keep it in stock appearance, without going to a full modified look. I just painted it today however I still have alot to do yet. I have picked out a set of rims but there doesn,t seem to be stock left anywhere. So i,m waiting for a response from the dealer to see if they are available. It,s a 350 H/L. So far I have, Full "independant" (operated by radio, front and rear, not linked, each under seperate control) steering, Led system with standard operating functions, and off road lighting controlled from the radio. ( I modifyed a basic system to add some extra lights, and wired a second seperate roll bar and ground light system myself). Remote operating front winch...sitting between the grille and behind the push bar...had to duplicate and extend the factory P/B..Looks totally stock!!. Box tilt done with radio. Currently working on a trailer hitch, and will be spending a fair amount of time detailing the body. The truck is operating with a 6ch radio + the winch remote....7 channels. wish I had 10!! Lol. Ya it seems to be taking forever but it's kinda fun!! I have been working on trailer designs and that will follow soon.
Later Guys!

I got some 1.9 rock crusher XT's on my F350 and I like them so far... they're a little larger diameter than most 1.9s which gives a bit more axle clearance.. they are soft but not so soft that the side wall collapses in a turn... a good fit for someone who wants larger tires but doesn't want to go to 2.2s...
