what we have to wait till Thanksgiving !!!!!!why is it NOT a roller yet :emot15:

kidding ;) looks great so far Gavyn :emot112:
LOL...thanks Tom...I thought I wouldve had it as a roller already but I underestimated how tired I was the past few nites lol..Very fun kit tho

Im just drooling right now !! Honestly just put a 1/8th scale system in there ,wait it out as long as you can ! It'll be worth it !! I was gonna suggest the HobbyWing ones they're actually not bad ,but they cost the same as the Castle systems on sale right now !!
Thanks man...Yea I know Im back and fourth about the idea...I have a few projects coming up at the begining of the year and I dont know how my money will look..I put 3 systems on my christmas list tho :D

Great overview on the build so far, it has me wanting one. I always thought that kits were so much more fun because you had to build it and it gave you a lot of hands on experience so when it came to fix or mod it you were not guessing how to do it.

Your build is comming along nicely. A fellow racer sports an EB48 with nothing really bad to say and dose very well with it.

The same fellow racer and I haven't any luck with the gen ace 4s hardcase lipos on our e-buggys. My two packs are puffing and he split his.

So far I'm liking all my HK Nanotech 2s and 4s for alll my offroad rides.

Can't wait to see it done.

Aloha

Ok sooooooo I had decided to take a nite off from building to collect my thoughts and work on the MTs....buuuuuuuuut the Tekno was calling my name as it sat in the corner...lol :D

Soooooooo next up Bag "J"... Steering Assmebly

I was actually looking forward to this step in the directions...Never put together a steering setup like this before, all my MTs are pretty simple (not that this is complicated in anyway lol). Started by taking the steering bell cranks and installing the bearings...then added the spring and adjusting nut.

Moved on to the steering links...I hate threading the rob end onto the camber link lol :mad ....After that I attached the brace and links to the steering assembly..

Bag "K"... Front End Assembly

Getting closer to something that looks like a Buggy now lol...After I finished the steering assembly I was motivated to finish the last 2 steps before I move on to the shocks (coming later)...

Started by installing the steering top plate and front body post...then connected the steering assembly to the front gearbox assembly.. another fairly easy and well layed out process. Only issue I had was after I connected the steering links I realized I need to make them a tad longer lol..

Now for the fun part...Connected the front assembly to the chassis plate. This was a fun process to because everything is coming together now. The chassis plate is very strong and the front assembly fit on it like a glove.

Next up....Bag "L"... Center/Rear Assembly...

This is the last step before I start building the shocks...After this, we will have something that looks like a Buggy. Started with the Center Diff, motor mount and front/center Driveshaft...Once again everything fit like a glove onto the chassis...

Note*....only thing to not here was I had to sand the inside part of the Center Diff Top Plate because it was rubbing the spur gear...I had heard from a few guys that it might happen so I was prepared..

Next was attaching the rear end assembly to the chassis...started with the center/rear short driveshaft and brace, then installed the rear gearbox to the chassis...Like before, no issuse at all and fits perfectly...

And here are my final pics for the nite....It looks really really good and everything is nice and secure on the chassis. The buggy feels very sturdy at this point and Im just going over everything to make sure all screws are tightened and everything lines up correctly....

First Impressions of the build so far.....

I guess you can say Im at the half way point lol..like Ive said before Tekno did an awesome job developing this kit. Very very good quality parts and easy to follow directions are definitely a plus...(especially for someone who has never put a kit together before)..My biggest fear was that I would run into a ton of issues either because my lack of knowledge or "missing" parts from the kit or hard to follow directions. After reading through the Tekno thread I was not surprised at how the kit is coming together.

The next step coming up is assembling the shocks. I have never had to do it before because all of my shocks for my MTs have come preassembled. Once again the directions are very clear and easy to understand so I shouldnt have any problems. If anyone has any advice or tips please chime in thanks.

Still gathering electronics so at sum point the project will be on hold until those items come in....A friend of mine wants to paint the body but I might give it a try myself. More to come soon guys..I appreciate all the kind words so far, and please chime in with anything you would like to add. Thanks

when sliding a O-ring over a shaft be sure it is well lubed. AE's green slime is popular for this.
Go easy and use lube to ensure no nicks or tears to 0-rings and they should end up leak free.

me too...i have gens ace 2s, 3s, and 4s packs...all 5000mah and 40c rated...rubbish! all but one 2s pack is puffed, and i had the cases split on my 3s and 4s packs...i dont run anything with REALLY crazy amp draw, and the voltage cutoff is set to 3.3v/cell on all my escs, stored correctly, etc., ...i bought gens ace batteries, due to the good reviews they've gotten before, but never again am i gonna buy another gens ace pack...my turnigy packs had a longer life than these...

i cant wait till these packs cant take anymore charge so i can just get a new fresh set of turnigy packs to use...

i loathe building shocks...but i hate gluing 1/8 buggy tires even more...

as for the shock building- i usually rig up a contraption to hold the shocks upright (i.e.- clothespins on the shock body, then a wrench over the clothespins to hold them in place, or a pair of bricks holding the shocks between them, etc.)...take your time and be patient...will already mentioned lubing the o-rings...what i do is compress the shock shaft so it's in the shock body a little bit...then i pour enough oil to cover the piston and a bit more above it...i then extend the shock shaft, so the piston goes down the most i can...you should see bubbles move to the surface...i add a bit more oil and move the shock shaft to pump the air bubbles out...i do this slowly, to prevent aeration and foaming of the oil...i let it sit so any bubbles work their way to the surface and dissipate...i then fill the rest of the shock body with oil, then compress/extend the shock shaft a few times to make sure there are no more bubbles...i then place the shock bladder and screw the cap on ....test the shock to make sure there isnt too much oil in the body...if the shaft wont compress all the way, then you've got too much oil- drain some and repeat...too little oil and you hear the oil bubble and turn frothy...just right, and you have smooth shock operation...

Thanks Will, Thanks Jayson!!

Great info on the shocks...Im starting them tonight, shouldnt be as bad as I thought...A friend of mine is donating a Hitec HS-7940TH servo so that cuts out a good junk of money. Hopefully Santa brings me what I want and Im good to go lol...I also picked up a set of Proline Suburbs and velocity wheels during black friday. so I have 2 sets of wheels/tires.

I have 3 gens ace 2s lipos and Ive never had a problem with mine...Ill look into turnigy for my 4s and maybe a few others, but I might stick with gens ace.

Alrighty....Shock Time!!

Bags "M" and "N"....Front/Rear Shocks...

Decided to do the both front and rear shocks together like the Tekno directions recommended..After reading through them a few times I had a good understanding of how to build the shocks.

Started by assembling the shock bodies and attaching pistons and shafts....Then I added the ball ends and pivot balls.

Next I filled shocks with oil and and followed steps to get rid of air bubbles, set rebound and added bladder...Screwed the shock caps on and shock adjustment nut, installed spring and spring perches and I was done! Not as bad as I thought lol.

Last thing I did tonight was install the shocks onto the chassis...its looking really really good now..

diggin the front and rear axle look's.

they look robotic & futuristic like something out of some sci-fi movie.
Yea me too..I was thinking the same thing lol... all the parts are nice and strong too. The shocks were really fun to build too, very beefy shocks

While I wait for the electronics to come in, I did receive another package..Got my wheels and tires in the past few days.. I picked up 2 sets, a "generic" bashing set and a set of Proline Suburbs and Velocity wheels off ebay...The Prolines were a very good deal so I snagged them..

and these cheap wheels/tires I can bash with and not worry about messing them up..

Been watching this build Gavyn. Nice job on it, the buggy looks amazing. I've been wanting a 1/8 e buggy for awhile now. The first time I saw one run at a track my jaw about hit the floor. I think you are going to love that thing.
