I think something is wrong with my post count. I just joined today. :willy

I'll update the thread when I receive official information. Hopefully this clears up all the speculation around the web. In this case I'm referring to (1) actual ETA of the kits, and (2) an addendum sheet included in the kit indicating more hop-ups (can be seen in the RC Driver build by Jason Carter).

I've been watching Jason Carter's build and can't wait to get my hands on one of these kits. It's so nice seeing Tamiya offering all these new great kits. I've been a fan of kits ever since my first Clodbuster way back in the day. Something about building is better than pulling a RTR out of the box. My Tamiya collection just keeps growing with all these releases. I hope to someday have one of the Wranglers (hint, hint) :tmb

I can't wait to see Jason detail that body... His Hilux build surely sold a few kits for Tamiya.

He's doing it red and white box art. :) I'm thinking cream/white for mine.

And I've noticed some people are bashing the kit before it's even out.
My reply to that is I remember when the TLT kit came out. It was bashed really hard too. I know, I was one. To low, wider than it is long, trans with a belt is crap, cantilevers suck and the list went on and on. Now it's praised and on the highest pedestal. Once it was found to be great for projects instead of the ''mini-monster''. Give this new truck kit a chance, I mean it's not even on the shelf yet and some guys have it on the clearance rack.

Once it's out, built a run we'll see what the good, and bad points are and how to make it better. Just like every other kit from any manufacturer. :tong

I'll be running the kit with JAnderson at the Helena, MT rock crawling event.

Feel free to check it out there also. Hopefully I can get enough time to build it. :willy

You can always run it without the body yet :tong.

If you guys can get some good footage...that will be great!!!

Thanks.

I'll try to make it as realistic as possible. Probably have to take a lot of pictures before I roll it off a mountain (in scale terms) :tong

Just an observation.

It seems there are not a lot of people excited over this kit. Unlike how the Ford High Lift F350 was anticipated. Lots of negative post from other sites and some threads are buried and not much being viewed or replied.

Is it because it's a crawler?

from the pre-orders it doesn't look to be unpopular thus far. :tmb

Generally people like to complain either 1) before the kit is out, or 2) before they actually own it or see it in person. Look at the Durga DB-01 thread on rctech.net. The first 4 pages have many complaints prior to the release, the current pages are a different story.

So far it seems that the scale purists don't love it because it's not a hard plastic body (can't imagine why we'd make one for a crawler that is prone to rollovers), the crawlers don't love it because they don't think it'll work (even though they've yet to see one, try one, or use one), the on-road guys don't love it because it's off-road (go figure), and the off-road guys don't love it because it's slow. I think that pretty much covers everything. :ack :willy

I am one of the people that is not excited about this. I am more excited about the Pajero Metaltop rere.:)

The main reason is because I don't find the chassis really appealing. That center black plastic part on the chassis sort of killed the scale look for me. However, being a Tamiya truck fan, I will probably end up buying one since it is not too expensive.:tami

I am gonna go with this as well, But tamiya semi's are what really get my attention :tmb..Not much crawling going on where I live here in NJ, so no reason to have one

Nice lil rig none the less and from the looks of it, has alot of potential it's just not my cup of tea :ack

I'm really looking forward to seeing one of these! From what I've seen so far, I really want one. Of course that F150 racing truck looks pretty nice too. :)
