There is no real suspension on those. Its basically an upper and lower control arm with a torsion bar that works as the shock..... If you look close at the front bulk head you will see the eylet hoop for the bar going to the lower control arm

-Oh, the black bar on the front bumper to the frt. arms, so that's it huh, thank-you for verifying that for me!!!:)

-I have a Super Blackfoot, it has those bars---and friction shocks, that's what kinda had me wondering about how the Grasshopper frt susp. worked, tho, I figure there's a lil' more wt. being supported on the SprBlkft, so maybe it needs both(?) The bars also keep the frt. susp. from bending back on impacts, (of which it has seen many:tong). I replaced the bent rods w/ old Traxxas Sledge ti-rods, when their mounts broke, worked fine.

there are (1/2 inch) 2 horizontal springs in frame pockets that get compressed by a tab on the suspension arms.

Check out a frog or brat manual, it's a very different method.
The bar with the eyelet is to steady the arm from for-aft flexing that's all.

-thanks Will, that's what I was wondering about, so, technically, that'd work on the Sprblkft too then (in theory):)

No. The frog suspension will not work on a Super Blackfoot. The Super Blackfoot has a totally different front end.

you'd have to swap in most of a frog front end, both sets of upper and lower arms, the eyelet bars. Then you could use the super uprights and carriers. It would narrow the front end a bit though. Super was wider than a frog.

-thanks for the warning, I wasn't going to do it. It is strange tho, very often you can eyeball a tamiya, & say "hey, I can use that on that", etc. It, in my mind, was one of those cases here. Thank-you for correcting me, you may have prevented somebody else some frustration:)

No problem.
Tamiya's are very interchangeable. The Frog and Super Blackfoot share the same frame design and suspension stays but, that's where the similarities end. In addition to all the parts Will listed, you would also need to swap out the Super Blackfoot E frame part for the Frog/Blackfoot H-1 frame part as well. This would also require that you use an original Blackfoot bumper part #0005075.

Then if you plan on running vertical shocks in the front you will also need to swap out the Super Blackfoot front shock tower, electronics cover, and speed controller stay for parts G-9, J-11 and the speed controller stay from an original Blackfoot. After all of these changes you will end up with a front end that is noticeably narrower than the rear. You can help that a little by using original Blackfoot front wheels but you will still have about a 5mm difference between front and rear. :tami
