well the t-maxx was fun for a few years then i decided nitro was not for me any more, i sold off my engines and anything nitro, and i am going to do an e-maxx conversion. first pics is what she looked like fresh off the rebuild as a black and blue t-maxx, then the other pics are her completely disassembled and waiting tony screws and avid bearings to just make her a roller, kershaw 700ho motors will come later and then some batteries.

Excellent topic for a thread!

I had a MINTY T-Maxx 2.5R that I just decided to sell because I also prefer electric to Nitro.

I considered doing this swap, asked around about it, didnt get much info... but I wish I would have kept it a few weeks more to see how your going to do it!

i am going to use the e-maxx tranny as seen in the upper right of the third pic.
after thats is getting the right length drive shafts motors/esc and im going to mount two batteries one on each side of the tranny, they fit.

I am interested in how it turns out. I assume you don't want to take the easy way out and just use an e-maxx chassis as well. I am guessing the front and rears diff assemblies interchange from t-maxx to e-maxx?

i have an e-maxx chassis, to use the t-maxx chassis, the only thing i will really need to fab, are battery tray/straps or tie downs. i just found out on another forum that users of the 700ho's on the older style transmissions have caused some stress on the tranny, being heavy and warping the plate. any ideas for motors? aside from brushless as the tranny wont take it. ordered my bearings just now and have an order placed at tonys screws.

I found a dirt cheap HPI Savage yesterday that I may pick up and convert to electric too.

So Im real interested in how your project turns out!

update and need some advise.
found a set of unmounted badlands on dish rim with adaptors, and some revo shafts in my parts drawers.

now i was dry fitting chassis pieces last night and noticed that the e-maxx tranny hits the center skid plate when using the t-maxx chassis so im going to cut mounting tabs off the e-maxx chassis and get some battery holders at the same time. here are a few different ways of doing this. it more or less how much i cover the center t-maxx cassis hole. The t-maxx chassis is red just to show the two chassis. if i dont use the battery bars on the right side, batteries will sit a little lower, but i will need to find a way to support the battery compartment sides, but with velcro wrapping around it might be ok. the batteries will be A123's or lipo. -*- e-maxx chassis wont work because im using my pro-line steering bell crank

what do you all think?

finished the diffs and pinned the arms to the bulk heads, also finished the e-maxx chassis cut to get the battery boxes and tranny hight, also cut the top plate of a rustler for the shifting servo plate. also found some old hockey equipment and took out the protective plastic and i am going to carve out an exoskeleton insted of a roll cage and body.
