Thanks! Been thinking with all the weight on them axles some sort of straps would be great to help keep the stress off the shock ends when it leaves the ground, like how the big boys have. Anyone ever seen someone make those?

Surprises me that none of the aftermarket places have made anything like that, sure a techincal person has done something. Be kool to see some made of the same type of material the real ones use not sure what its called..

Some guys use the yellow straps that electricians use to fish wire through conduits. Some, but not all, Home Depots sell it. It looks just like mini versions of the straps that 1.1s use for tow straps and limiting straps.

Guys have any pics or links? Like to the "expensive" ones your talking about Will :laugh:tmb

Actually what I have seen was what the real trucks use and yes thats what I was looking for tow strap material is what I think it looks like.

Little update, recently ordered some round tube from Brett(Crawford, thanks!) to help give the weak body mount plates that Thunder Tech uses, ive already replaced them once due to rebending them back in shape many times. So some time way back had an idea to put some bracing in there but just never got to it. Much stronger now! Now some might ask why I didnt just run from the body posts well 2 reasons, thought I had 6/32 studs for the rods but didnt and wasnt up for ordering them and waiting and I think this was is a bit stronger due to being able to use screws you can tighten down strong vs only screwing into plastic :tmb
While I was cruising the aisles of osh hardware I ran into this string and it loks pretty strong and since im trying to come up with a easy limiting strap system I thought about this and crimping it with the pieces pictured, maybe double loop it for more strength. I dont know yet really since theirs still some things to iron out.
Lastly since my new radio will be here tomorrow im trying to come up with a mounting idea for the go-pro cam but in this beast its very limited to say the least, found 2 options really but with downsides, 1 is I need some material(carbon fiber is what I want) to make a platform and 2 is I wont be bale to slide the cam and mount off the clamp that is glued to whereever you put it so I would need another upper clamp piece but the nice guys at go-pro dont sell just one part you have to buy a bag of mounts for like $20 :( so still tinkering on that but I like the one up front the best.

Hey
I havent actually done a thing yet since I posted for a few reason, been working on my savage and other is im having a hard time figuring out how im gonna do these lines. Started thinking it would be ideal if the upper tie off was right above the gearcase well its obvious that wont happen so just a matter of how to hook it all up. I thought about chains to but thought they might get tangled up under compression and stuff.
Might start tinkering on it tonight, gotta get the new rx installed first :tmb

Axle to axle is about 15.5" LIke I was saying in your thread like to find some wider widners lol, little to narrow.

so your wb is almost exactly what mine is.

my extenders/adapters are 1" on each side.
my truck is 17" wide to the outside of the tires.
ive got 8" of space between the tires.
:tmb

Ok now I have to check my width lol....

TTR's adapters must be the same cause I have the same measurements...might be asking alot for anything wider :-(

Got my piece of red CF Friday so got to work on the mount for the gopro and just in time since a trip to the beach is planned for next weekend and meeting a fellow rc'er from rcmt I met as well so its gonna be awesome with another driver.
Pretty straight forward just some shoe-goo to hold in place (lot stronger stuff then you think) and its good. Will be using the half painted body from my old slash (painted that way for the gopro so you can see out). Other then that just gave everything the once over, bearings lubed, screws checked and the dx3s rx installed and even bagged it for protection haha.
I serioulsy cant wait to get this in the sand again, 2 years ago it was a dismal time with it on brushed motors and the whole reason I built as it is now was to return and show the sand whos boss!

HA
It was so bad I turned it off. He's a goon, has to get into his underoos in every movie and always act like a over the top idiot. It was funny once, now it's annoying.

Now, have you got the limit straps done, and any :pics ?

Nice truck for sure! I have an idea on why your integy shocks werent working too. I dont know how much movement the top mounts allowed for, but I think because of the way you had them mounted there was too much side loading and that was causing them to bind especially because of the length they had. I would have been willing to bet that if you had turned the top of the shock 90 degrees that they would have worked a lot better for ya. You tried that thing in any mud yet? lol

Well like mentioned above I havent got to the straps yet, im really stumped as to how to mount them. Wish someone that has done this would show some pics thats what I need for some ideas.
Never thought about that on the shocks but the AE bouncers work great so all is well, thanks.
No mud just the sand pile and honestly thats the only time its been out since making it this large, really disappointed in imex and their lack of customer support so when it goes next weekend to the beach I hope the messed up tire doesnt mess it up to bad, may not matter in the uneven sand?
