Super Kong Clodbuster!

OK time to unleash the beast. My fingers are raw from all the tinkering on this thing last night, all I can say is wow its huge. The plates alone are much larger then I pictured, pics dont do this any justice in size something that has to be seen in person. Unfortunatley I cant run it cause im very impatiently waiting for the lower shock mounts and have no idea when their coming right now. The shocks right now are just sitting on the lower links, the shock ends are to big to fit in the slots in the links or I would have gave it spin. Word is I might need adjustable motor mounts still to drop the pinion a couple teeth but im gonna try it with stock 13's. Just stuck the lid on for the pics, might be a little short I dont know yet, deal with the body issues last. I am also short on some round crossmembers so gotta get ahold of TTR to order a few more but guess their away cause no ones answering. I went with the swamp kongs just to be different from the other 2 already done, nice tires! Anyrate pics!

Probaly but this already went way over what I had to spend on it for some unknown issues that Eric helped me out with so a body will have to wait, kinda suks I really like the blazer. I do have a proline f650 ext version to try on it still, I have a horribly beat up 1/8 digger lid to.

Darn tires about swallow the poor little HS up :rof

Man those are some HUGE meats! I *love* 'em! Nice, big, fat donuts are what belong underneath a 4x4 and not the pathetic low profile rubber bands that are all the rage now, both full scale and R/C.

Fantastic work!

Thank you thank you. I must give all credit to Eric if he hadnt done this first their wouldnt be the file on hand at TTR to get these cut for the rest of us to follow along. Still some work to be done of coarse but couldnt wait to share, ever since I saw Eric's I wanted one that was a few months back and it was driving me crazy but tax return time came along and I was able to swing the $$. Looks like a new lid will be in order tho. Here is teh f650 ext. bit better fit heh

Is that the first Kong ripper to utilize the ttr cnc swaybar kit? It looks good with them on there.

I believe so, Eric and Breaker (only 2 I know of that have done this so far) are using different sway bars. Eric is using zilla 4 bars and I forget what Breaker is using. I dont see why they wont do the job.

I have a question about the shock setup. Why not just run 4in. shocks using the lower holes on the new chassis (where the shock mounts would have mounted on a regular ripper). Then just use longer standoffs so that the shocks would clear the swaybars. There would be no need for custom shock mounts, you could use tougher shocks than the integys, and you could still use the machined links.

Good question lol, Other 2 think any other regular shock wont cut it with the added weight. Honestly I have no idea I just went on their recommendations. Had a thought maybe some MGT shocks :willy

well the shock length doesnt neccessarily mean it will be stronger. From what I'd think the longer the shaft the more room for it to be tweaked. If you went with a shorter shock setup you'd just need to run thicker oil and harder springs to accomodate the heavier truck. Not saying theres anything wrong with the savage shock setup just that maybe the shorter setup is worth a shot especially because you'd be able to utilize parts you already have.

Edit: Now that I look back at the new larger chassis you wouldnt even need really long standoffs because you could just move the cnc swaybars farther toward the middle of the chassis using the other mounting holes in order to have shock clearance.

Well the holes are there so you can run the AE style shocks but I jumped the gun anyways and sold off my awesome AE bouncers to help fund buying the savage shocks so stuck with it now. If they start bending and what not then something else will go on it, im already pretty ticked at integy over my gearcases, their lack of customer support and quality control is lame.

Ahhh Swamp Kongs!!! Now this is a nice variation on the take of being a bit diff from Eric and I run'n Digger bodies, also original. I must say things seem to be coming together quite nicely on this end and also alot more fast pace than mine is. I gotta agree with some of the others though on a bigger lid for this bad boy. A Terra Crusher bod would look pretty hot on there too, the 650 loox a bit nice as well though. If only they made a Bronco/Blazer bod for 1/8-1/6th scale eh... heh

Terra crusher heh, have to look it up. I like digger and all but the rc body is so large and not very strong. I looked up a firehammer lid, huge! The pirce tag tunred me off right quick tho, $60 :shk Think another f650 is gonna be it tho but a new lid isnt a priority right now. Eric told me he uses 10t pinions so I may have to get some adjustable motor mounts yet :reye
Dying to run it tho but the shock mounts wont be here this week it looks like :-(

Looks good Savage. For those asking I mounted my shocks were I did for scale and I was very afraid of taxing those lower four links. Plus with Devastators shock mounts act as a truss on the tube and double as a mount for the shocks and the sway bar.
As far as bodies go dont forget about the Losi aftershock body. I am sure you could get one for cheap. Parma also makes that 1/8 scale chevy body too. (besides the digger body)

I was just looking on tower and seems the f650 is the longest body, 21" that parma you mention is 20" ANyone know the specs on the Losi?
Eric have you bent any of your shocks at all? Seems to be the concern being integy and all :ack

Parma actually uses .060 on their 8th scale bodies vs the .040 they normally use on their smaller scale bodies so it is actually a bit strong for it's size. Personall I took the fiberglass route just for the heck of wanting to have a hard body for the build. Though the body being fiberglass it won't have any windows so just that's about the only down side. I know I could fab up some windows using some lexan sheet cut to fit but for the plain work of art in the form it is in now I will leave it be. I just about have it finished up and will snap a few pics of the final body still in raw form but hand sanded a bit (week or more) so basically it's ready for primer.

Also have you checked out the Pro-Line Dodge Crewcab bod made for the AE MGT? length wise it'l give you 20" and 7" width, bout the specs of the 8th scale Digger and nicely detailed and in a decent proportion in being scaled compared to a few of the Parma bodies which I find to not be in the right proportion, especially most of their 8th scale bods. Of coarse this is when you do make it that way with a new lid. Dropping the pinion a few sizes down from the stock couldn't hurt either.

Personally being I'll be running 2 cans per case I figure the only added weight to the truck is the weight of the 2 extra cans as I already saw the truck having 2 packs so thats the only added weight I'll be looking at. The fiberglass lid will most likely be just a shelf bod. Any who pinion wise being it's 2 cans per axle/case I'll be tos'n in 2 18 tooth pinions per case. Personally I'd like to see just how fast the thing will go and if I'm able to blow them Kongs off their rims. LOL. When I know I built a truck that can hold and take the stress of alot of power without any breackage it makes me feel good to know things was done well and right. Also the final links on mine will be done in TXT diameter with 8-32 studs so the links will be a bit more beefy than your normal 4-links.

Pretty much looked at all the body specs on tower and the f650 is the longest, 21".. Other thing on the digger is I hate those decals! I have had that body a few times and mess those up so bad everytime. Just dont know if I want it again yet, the f650 looks pretty darn good I think, like to find the specs on the losi body mentioned just to see. Where does one get some beefy links made?
