Start Of A Beautiful Relationship Bruiser Resto

I know that I have been pestering some of you on here about issues with my different bruiser parts or having issues with stripping the body down. Well here is what I have been able to achieve after many weeks on the first body and only 3 days on the second body.

The one of the Left was a Pain in the you know what because the paint just didn't want to come off. As well when I got it lets just say it needed some TLC. The one on the right I picked it up off of Ebay of course and I must say it was very well kept and only needed some minor repairs. The first one now has primer on it and looks very nice.
Now to decide which one I will be keeping... Oh what a Dilema.. :banghead :willy
I will probably primer up the second one with the interior and keep that one. May have it all painted up this weekend or next. I will keep everyone updated on the Buriser Build.

Any suggestions on a Nice Paint Shceme, I am thinking 2 tone but all suggestions welcome.

Thanks for looking.

look'n good! I would primer them both and see which one has a nicer base coat and sell the other.

so what did you use to strip the paint off?
Well on the first one many things and nothing really cut the paint that well. Castrol Super Clean (Purple BioDegradeable liquid), Brake Fluid seem to work a little better and then Sand Paper. On the second one the Brake Fluid did really well with the exception of the small details. So because of that I used some gel stripper called "Chameleon" I found it at Hobby Town USA. A bit expensive 8 oz cost $11.15 I would pour it on and move it around with a paint brush wait 20 min and use a bras wire brush and an xacto knife to get to the fine details.

All in all for both Bruisers I have about $20.00 in 6 bottles of brake fluid, $6.00 in Super Clean and the $11.15 in the Hobby Stripper.

I recommend the brake fluid but you have to find a way to dispose of it.

Niiice work, I am surpised about the castrol super clean... It must have been some serious tough paint, because that usually does the trick for me.

Here are some updated Pics of the Bruiser... Thought I would put it together to see where I am at. When I purchased it off of the Bay it was missing quite a few parts... I am just needing the electronics now and a little paint.

What do you think?

Oh by the way can someone tell me why the body doesn't sit level? The drivers side sits higher then the passengers side. I initially thought it was the leafspings but after looking it looks like it is the Servo Plastic box causing it. Anyone know of a fix to get it to set level?

Getting pretty exciting to have a bruiser almost completed. Just need to do the bearings in the Tranny and contemplating :banghead Chroming the Chassis. Oh and I have a Windshield coming to me on Wednesday from Forrest... Just need to pick up his Windshield Decal and Tailgate decal.

Thanks for looking.

Looking good! Great progress so far!

As for why your trick isn't sitting level, I would first check the length of the two posts that extend downward from the black plastic radio box and screw to the top of the transmission cross member. Maybe a previous owner cut one of those posts for some reason.

Hum.. that is a thought however the back of the radio box sits flush on the Back Cross member where it attaches with the two screws. I thought maybe the small indention that goes down into the cross bace was not seated and that was causing it but that was not it. It is almost like I need to screw one of the posts down in the back or was made wrong but I flipped it around and still is off on the same side. So because of this the rear posts are the same.

I am at a loss.

I would suggest loosening the screws that attach the bed to teh cab and then putting the body on the chassis to see if it will sit more level. If it does, then try tightening the screws up then. My guess is that the screw in the lower drivers side door area is 'pulled' out slightly in comparison to the other 3 locations.
Its worth a try!
