"Spin" gets an SCX-10! Now what?

Hey guys,I just picked up a brand spanking new Axial SCX-10 this week (thanks, Uncle Sam!) and I can't wait to get her built! I already have a Sidewinder BL system and plans to run 2.2's since I like to hit some rugged areas and need the ground clearance. So how should I build her up? Stock body? Make it a mudder? Speed machine? Aftermarket upgrades? Toss out some ideas/suggestions...I need some inspiration!

Thanks,
Troy.

That's "Mr Spin" let's get it right. :laugh

I say use that stock 50's pickup body, just put a nice scheme on it and hog the wheelwells as needed. It's not a bad body really, just seems nobody uses it so you'd actually be different. :wnk

Go lipo and brushless geared for trail and crawl. That should leave you enough wheelspeed for some mud. A plastic resealable food type container for your ESC and RX will keep the splash off as long as you don't U-Boat it.

Then you can put paddles and a 3S lipo in for a good mud run video to show us!!!!! :burn:racecar:hi5

cool deal, Mr. Spin!

i definately like Bill's ideas, but depending on how much you wanna spend there are a crap-ton of choices.
with the gearing in those axles and the tranny, youre already gonna be slower than say a wk.
personally, i think ALL trucks should be capable of mudding, but with that open tranny id be nervous.

so... if your trying to do it on the low cost side, id say use a stock or mod motor, some waterproof electronics, and bash the snot out of it!

oh, and we'll be needing :pics

oh, 32 pitch gears can be used so that may be the way to set it up for an occatioinal mudd bogger. :burn

I think you should pop a nice Sidewinder 5700kv in there on 2s lipo and enjoy driving a very fast basher that will outhandle any Wheely King ;)
After driving my WK, i really apretiate driving things like touring cars with how fast and nimble they are

Wow, great suggestions everyone! Now I need to get wrenching. It will have the 5700 Sidewinder system (the one I snagged for 50 clams!). This is my gift to myself out of my tax refund, before I spend it all on bills :ack. I was thinking going old school and using the stock body. I don't usually go too wild with paint schemes, but this lid has me thinking...anyway, feel free to toss out anything you'd like to see. Maybe I can make it happen, I do have a pretty big allowance :)

Thanks guys!

Troy.

Well, now it's a "roller", and I gotta say this chassis is just dead sexy! It was a fun build, other than my short attention span and lack of following directions. One bummer though, I lost or was shorted 3 setscrews for the driveshafts :-( . On the plus side, the alloy hexes with locking setscrews is a nice touch (wish they all were like that). The Axial logos on the C-channel frame just screams "classy". I love the radio box, too. My head is spinning with all kinds of ideas, but for now I'll just paint the lid and see what she's got.

I've been silly. I thought you got an S10 Corr truck thing! Hence my earlier post. In those pictures is that the 1.9's or 2.2's? I just bought the same she'll for the Axial crawler I won at Xmas. So I don't kill the terminator shell. Hoping I don't get too much rubbing on the arches with my 2.2's

1.9s come with the kit, but theyre big 1.9s, so depending on your 2.2s you might be ok.

Hopefully i don't need to butcher too much of the Arches to avoid rubbing. IMO it's a fantastic body. I'm thinking of making mines all black with chrome paint on the bumpers and other details. Along with that, perhaps paint the inside of my beadlocks black, and remove the anodizing from the beadlock itself and get it a niced polished alloy colour.

Silver/chrome and black...mmmm

As it's not the S10 Corr truck i was thinking Troy, maybe the 5700 brushless motor isn't hte best idea :p

Does it come with open or locked diffs?
If it was open diffs i guess you could gear up and install the motor for 1 speed run, capture it on video and put it on youtube. I'm sure no one else has been crazy enough to build a 45mph or faster scale crawler
