plow

Wow looking really good so far! I have a hitech but wanted a water proof servo. my plow is pvc but the bottom is a solid plate of aluminum. I am working on a 18 wheeler right now. I have all the new parts for my plow just haven't taken the time to install everything. really liking yours! pix of mine are in the forum. if I knew how to link it I would. lol

Got on a roll tonight and got the blade made and attached!

Pictures! Excuse the backdrop. Dogs were playing in their beds and made a bit of a mess.

Fully raised.

Half way.

Down.

I am super happy with how it turned out. Still need to attach the springs (ones I bought ended up too short) and do some cleanup. Suppose to be getting 20cm (8 inches) of snow Wednesday so might get a chance to try her out.

Blade is 1/16th inch thick sheet of aluminum. Nice and light. Cutting edge is 1/8 x 3/4 inch aluminum. I also bent two strips for where the blade attaches to the hoist and where the springs will attach to help the blade keep its shape. I was going to leave the blade unpainted but now am thinking red would set it off nicely.

That plow looks really nice and well built. I agree with the red paint. I think it would add some color to the white scheme you got going on. ;)

The chassis in the picture is my stock Clod with the new Clod body destined for my Mod Clod. My trucks are in pieces at the moment due to winter work. I have a plan for the body but will need warmer weather to paint it. I am also removing chome from a set of wheels for the project. They will be painted as well. The plow will eventually end up on my Bullhead which I don't have yet. Just using the chassis and body for mockup.

Took the plow out for a trial run. Still needs the springs to keep the blade upright. For now I used some chain.

Actually plowed snow pretty well but as it got deeper it tended to ride up. That should be fixed with the springs holding the blade at a better angle. Only real issue was the fact a Clod with stock diffs which are open had no traction. It would push fine till the weight got slightly heavy on the blade then spin the wheels with no traction. Still happy with it and looking forward to seeing it mounted on the Bullhead.

I like how the bag for the springs has both French and English words on it. If it were here in the 'States, you'd have English and Spanish.
:rolleyes
Actually no. I stopped into Lowe's here in Michigan and they have the same springs packaged the exact same way here.

Finally got to tear the shrink wrap off and open the box.

Tires almost look too nice to use.

The body.

Receiver for the Bullhead.

This will pretty much be a totally stock build right down to the shocks. At least that is the plan.

Also picked up these to try. Suppose to help with brownouts without having to resort to a separate BEC.

Are you going to do box art colors to or go custom? That looks like a fun body to paint!

I was going to match the box art but then cowboyclod showed me a picture of his Bullhead body done in black and it looked slick. So I think it may end up black.

Looking good I like the receiver. I used Tamiya gloss black on my own body and it came out mean and tough looking. The orange flames make's it really pop out even more.

Kind of bummed, you didn't say anything about the new rc smell when opened the box:p

This looks like a fun build, and you did a great job on the plow!

Thanks. Still need to tear the plow apart and paint the blade. I was thinking of mentioning the new RC smell when the box was opened but I got so many packages yesterday that I was overwhelmed and it slipped my mind.
