Spid's Bullhead

I don't have it yet, still in the planning stages. Along with the Clodbuster the Bullhead was my other boyhood dream truck. When Tamiya re-released it I decided then and there I would get one at some point. Hoping now over the winter I can finally achieve that goal. Initial plan for the truck is totally stock right down to the shocks.

Well until I found this picture which is just so cool looking.

While in Canadian Tire tonight I found some aluminum C channel and decided to give making a plow another shot. I had a chance to buy a beauty of a plow ready built but had to pass on it. This one won't look quite as nice but I am excited to get building. Hope to have some pictures tomorrow.

Very cool. I hope you get to achieve your goal. The Bullhead is one tough cookie. I like that photo you posted too. The extra headlamps look great.

Picked up two small springs and a sheet of aluminum at TSC today. Should work quote nicely as a blade.

Interesting to see where your project leads...
I fell for the temptation a few days ago and bid $305 for a brand new Bullhead on eBay.
Now I am waiting for a big present just after Christmas :cool

If there is a cure for this disease, I am not interested...
My first Clod/Bullhead, just for fun!

I am hoping it turns out. First plow I made for the Clod ended up on my CC01 Unimog. Was a bit ghetto but works great on there. The new one I am hoping for more realism. Picked up some c channel aluminum along with a nice sheet that should make a nice blade without being too heavy. Will try to get some pictures tonight of the progress. Not much happening atm due to Christmas and other priorities.

I'm excited to see the plow - I think that I want to make one.

This is neither here nor there but do you have a build thread for the avatar truck?

Pictures of my plow blade in the very early stages.

This is the mount that will attach to the bumper. The c-channel fits over the bumper very snugly. I will attach a crossbrace to keep it the same distance apart. Bars running to the plow blade will mount at the bottom with screws to allow the blade to be raised and lowered.

Bars that will run from bumper to plow. Again a crosspiece or two for strength. One will also be where the chain attaches for the servo to raise and lower the plow. And the springs for when it hits stuff.

This is the piece of aluminum I plan to curve and cut to use as the blade. Will also attach a narrow but slightly thicker piece to the bottom for abuse.

Springs.

I like how the bag for the springs has both French and English words on it. If it were here in the 'States, you'd have English and Spanish.
:rolleyes

plow

so far so good! I think the bullhead is a great choice for a plow Truck. I have a plow on my f350 but it is so heavy having trouble finding a servo to pick it up. If I every get my bullhead restored I just might have to make it a plow truck. lol

With winter setting in and cold temps making the workshop in the garage too cold I dragged the drill press into my basement computer/RC room and set it up behind my work table. So now I can continue to work on the plow through winter and maybe have it ready to plow some actual snow.

At the moment it is mounted on my stock clod but will fit the Bullhead no problem. Also found I have a servo to lift it in my parts box so even happier.

Pics to follow.

sounds good! sure wish I had a basement. my house is in the south and they really dont build basements here. or at least back in the 70's when my house was build. Now they can build basements with all the sealants they have. NC is just to humid and damp wouldnt work out for a basement. I have a 16 x 16 shed in the back yard and I just bought a new kerosene heater for it so now I can work out there this winter...hopefully over the next month or so I can add on to my shed and move things around so I will have more room to work out there.

what kind of servo are you using? my plow is so heavy a standard servo wont work. I have a water proof high torque traxxas servo im going to try for my f350 plow truck.

Servo is a Hitec 645. Blade is aluminum so it should be fairly light.

Pictures!

Both cross pieces installed. Closest to the truck will be for the chain attached to the servo for raising and lowering. Closest to blade will be where the springs attach.

Servo mounted.

Chain attached. I am getting stoked about finishing this plow.

Up.

Middle.

Down.

Eventually I plan to use my Futaba 4PL with the plow and set that servo on the dial so I can I hope get precise control of where the servo lowers the blade.
