So there is just a spring inside those shocks, no oil ?

Have you drop tested them ?
Like dropping your truck to the floor from a height of a foot to a foot-and-a-half ?

Can you swap in springs with different rates on them or are you stuck with just one ?

yes..there is a spring in the inside. i did a drop test from 3 foot with the stock tires....very smooth for air shocks. didn't see it bottom out either.

there is a medium spring that comes in it.....and there are soft and hard springs that are included also. i put the hard in and it was just right for my tests. the soft is gonna be WAAY to soft for anything you want to do though Brian.

liked them so much just picked up a set thanks look great
no problem. i didn't know if anyone notices...but the mods installed were the lower aluminum shock mounts... the shocks.....and the driveshafts. to install the shocks....i used the upper ball mount on my stock shocks will a small bit of grease...slid them in.....and used the stock screw with the beveled washer in the top. for the bottom i used the small hump bushing that came witht he new shocks. all smooth.....no binding.

Interesting.
Yeah Im running the same size tires you are.
I do like to jump over curbs and ramps.
I am currently using HPI bigbore shocks, and am trying to get them to actually absorb bumps. I just ordered some different springs for them, in order to try and achieve this. I saw the air shocks you got and how well they fit, and thought hmmmm.

the way i chose my spring..... i took and sat the truck down flat on the ground. since the the shock springs are an easy install and the springs can be replace while still mounted....i installed the hardest spring. if the springs could hold the truck up at ride height with no sag......hat's the spring i chose. the medium (black) springs had a little more sag than i liked......and when i put the brushless setup in it i figured they would have a lot of torque twist in them under power.....so i went for the silver (hard) spring. when i get my brushless setup.....i will program it for partial throttle takeoffs to keep the wheelies down.

I received my shocks as well, and one of them is binding.

I put 15wt oil in the shaft only, and use the medium spring. 3 of them compress and rebound ultra smooth, but one of them feels like metal on metal when compressing, and shoots back out like a pogo stick. I really cant figure out why.
I have politely emailed them 2 times about it with no response :(

Hopefully I can get this resolved somehow :bang

So, those Imex rims just bolted right on ? Did you actually have to stretch those tires onto the rims, like someone else said ? If yes, was it difficult ?

I have these also and mine don't leak at all.. I filled the hollow shaft and a little more... some of the compressed smooth and some did not.. on the ones that didn't I took had to open the top, push the shaft all the way up so the end was about to come out of the top.. there's a plastic bit held in place by a rather large e-clip.. I think the e-clip was rubbing the inside of the hollow chamber and scraping stuff off the side, there was a bunch of metal debris in it.. when I cleaned that up and push the e-clip so it wasn't scraping the side, the shock worked a LOT better... I was about to get rid of mine but I think I might use them now.. you just need to fiddle with them a bit.

edit: also, I noticed that they seem to be a lot more smooth then the little bit of the plastic plunger that's cut out for the air to pass through is in the open space where the e-clip is not covering up.

they just bolted right on. these tires were made for those rims....i didn't have a problem at all. you just might want to shim the up a lil like i did. i will try to post pics....but photobucket said i'm over bandwidth until the 23rd.

Bingo-

I found out about the eclip scraping and cleaned it out, I also rubbed it down with some tamiya grease. Its smooth now. Lining up the eclip worked as well.

So those shocks Do use oil ?

you can put oil in them, just filling the hollow part of the alum shaft, the 7mm bit.. then a little more.. leave the main spring chamber empty. it did make mine smoother.. I am guessing because the plastic plunger is coated in oil now. mine haven't leaked at all either.. but I am not using them on my truck.

Well I just learned, the Imex rims that you have are 2.8 " in diameter, and the clod tires I have, are 2.6" ID; so I don't know if I could make them fit.
