That has review written all over it. :p

Doing the HK / knock off math in reverse, I'd venture to guess we'd only need 7-9 participants max to get that one done. :D:D:D

i would be in to do another when time comes for it, I enjoy reading the outcomes of these as they are done for future reference

I'd be in for a review too. Highly doubt it'll be as tough as the real one but would be interesting to see what is compatible as far as parts.

I dunno. Shipping to the US would probly be a TON. HK sells a $70 SCT kit, and according to another forum the shipping for it is around $75. Plus I don't like how they make an EXACT copy, but that might be good because it may be parts compatible with the Pede. Plus looking closly I noticed that the wheelie bar seems to be molded into the rear bumper.

I'm on the fence with this one.

I would be down for a pede clone too.

the only thing with the clones for me is if they dont look compatible with the real one's or at least half the price of the name brand I dont see a need to even bother as nothing is gained.

like the txt clone that was cool becuase they dont make them anymore where if it turned out to be the same and as good or compatible parts with the real one it makes sense and it's worth the wild to try.

but like Sc clone that was thought to be a slash if it is not half the price or compatible with the slash nothing is really gained in the end becuase you save nothing and parts are on the other side of the world where the slash parts are still readily avialable everywhere unlike the txt.

so if this pede is a look alike and not a actual clone I would not see the need to even try this either unless it is half the retial price of the regular otherwise there no point to bother with it either unless it is a cheaper "clone".

would rather put the money toward's the new real sc10B coming out soon over something that cost the same as the real one but with no compatible parts that can be had on the other side of the world type thing is all.

No pun inteded either just me 2 cents :cool

Since Hobbyking is involved you can bet it'll be a ARTR brushless truck. The tires and rims are exactly like the Monster Jam ones but I'm betting the body will be some generic/buttugly truck body. So really there's no Traxxas equivalent since they don't make a brushless version of the MJ trucks. I can bet the HK version will still be a little cheaper than the brushed Traxxas trucks but again the body will be ugly. That makes it harder to gauge a price comparison. Closest would be a RTR brushless Pede @ ~ $340.

Matt,
Yes its a shame that this is happening.......but could it be good for the hobby as a whole? If you can offer a very popular vehicle for cheaper would that intrest more potential consumers?

And we have all heard the horror stories about patenting something worldwide. Overseas is like a black hole. Traxxas can only hope that their marketing along with the partnership of monster jam sways more customers to biy their vehicles.

The tires are a different pattern than Stampede tires. The picture is a bit grainy but it appears the wheely bar / rear end is a little different than the Stampede. I'd be willing to bet this truck isn't a copy but retains enough of the elements visually to make you think it's a copy/close but it different enough to avoid legalities.

I've read that Traxxas has a nasty legal team and doesn't mess around with people copying their products and infringing on patents and copyrights so I'm not sure that HK would go down the clone road.

I have to agree with northerngames though - if it is a clone unless it's dirt cheap it doesn't make much sense. The Stampede isn't expensive to begin with, parts are readily available, and I doubt that HK is going to do it any better than Traxxas already has.

OTOH - like Kent said if it's ARTR or RTR brushless and is a bit different than it might be a fun truck to goof off with. Horrid body is almost 100% guaranteed. :D
