Mike,
I have a ton of pretty good pictures for the club but I am not sure how they want them put up so I will talk to the powers that be and see and get back with you.
I added a second flash to my system and it made a big difference to the quality so I have a lot more keepers. I took nearly 1000 shots and after the first edit I have 580 left and I will go through that one or two more times but I bet I end up with more than 300 hundred pics when I am done.

Will see what happens but I am eager to have them out there for all to see what we do:tmb

We missed you guys I hope you get to come in the future

I know everyone is eager to see pics and have results and everything...Extreme R/c sort of said that is why we were not used last year in the mag...."because you can see of this stuff on the net"....everyone has already seen everything....maybe it is just generic excuse # 23 or something but that was included in emails or phone conversations..so......
anyways..............

So they said, because we post pictures here on rcmt, that they wont cover the event ? Thats the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard...not everyone in the country belongs to rcmt...that sound likes a crappy excuse to me :reye

Let me set you all straight. Here is part of the conversation from one of the editors when asked about putting an article in his magazine.

" . . . Odds are something would go in. Not every race, but a good contributor will always be used. Picture quality is very important, and an interesting read. The last coverage we had was so long and more of a list . . . I?m not sure anybody that is not in the hobby of MT racing or truck pulling read it! :)

Pictures and reading are 2 different things, which is why the last article (April 2006) did run. I like the creativity and custom fab of the pullers.

A race/event coverage should be something that isn?t listed online, or just a repeat of who won...which was exactly what that article was. It should feature things that aren?t found in other places. You can mention the website where the results could be found if you want the people to see the results and "toot" their horns. Features on people, features on cars, interviews with people, showcase of new parts or innovative ideas. The winners list for this event eats a lot of space, which is bad for the article because it takes away from the more interesting stuff that can be done.

The articles that list peoples names, and just say somebody won their class are for the people who are there. So I?m not discounting the class, just what coverage needs to be to have other people read it besides those who were there.

I?ve said this before, having somebody write articles to promote their hobby is something we?re always looking for. I?d love an article on how to convert your truck to be a puller...or how to set up a power system. There are lots of feature that can be done that do target smaller demographics but are still cool for the casual reader. . . . . "

Thanks, I hope this clears up some of the questions.

I am not discounting what has been said already. But I have seen so many "Big race articles" that hardly had any pictures other than people and the finishing orders (((With all the sponsors names here there and everywhere)))and oh by the way 99% are the same people who buy advertising in their magazine that I find it hard to understand why they don't like our articles. This is event coverage right? so we talk about the event. We could do articles about custom builds and such I think that would be great but to mix that in event coverage seems a bit different from what they are doing now.

We need to get our pictures out. Not only for the members but to help us grow and while I want to have the coverage in the magazines I don't think we should wait for them to help us anymore but I do think we should try to get our stuff published within reasonable limits.

I am guessing that what I have written above just proves I cant write :rof

I agree with John, and for the record thats TOTAL BS if they say
A race/event coverage should be something that isn?t listed online
We just had the USRCCA (united states radio control crawling association) Nationals in MOAB UT. RC Driver and RCCA was there covering the event and to top it off, there is an entire forum on RCC dedicated to the nationals event where Owner of RCC and USRCCA Jason Hensel did live coverage from the event the entire weekend. Not everyone is on the forum, but there are alot of people who read these magazines, and I am sure tons more who want to get into the sport.

So if they are going to say we cant share the event on our forum, then the 0000 with extreme :reye I am going to talk with Jason Carter from RC Driver, he is into MTs and actually had wanted to hook up with us for the last worlds but found out late about it. He is going to be at my house this weekend and I will discuss this further with him, I am sure he would willing to make the trek with us and cover the event regardless if we post it online...

Sorry for the rant, but that really frosted my ***

This has always been a touchy subject. I have always been very free to give my opinion of RCCA and how they conduct their business. We all know that we need to get coverage, but John said it very well in his post about not waiting for them or anyone for that matter. In my opinion you are either with us or against us and we have to proceed as normal.

Mike, that would be awesome if you know someone that could do something for us. I am sure that we could work with them on this past worlds if possible.

I would love to see that picture AL ! I cant imagine looking at you without squinting LOL

And Joe "HOT" :shk (His words) this we gotta see.

It would be real cool to put up whatever pictures we could of the past events on the new website when it gets done. A couple of years back I got to see some video from WAY back and Bari was a little kid it was really cool to try and pick out people I knew.

You guys are killing me LOL!!!!!

John, that is an awesome idea for the website. I know that we have some old shots and County Line has a ton as well. This might be something to seriously consider this winter when things are a little slower. We would help if needed.
