So, I'm "building" a 2nd Ground Pounder

I got to thinking, I just did my current truck with the V3 stock chassis plates.
Earlier this year, I ordered the race chassis from CPE.
I didn't feel like tearing apart the truck again, especially since I got the awesome sway bars from Mike Hesse.
So, since the race chassis is now on its way, I decided to do a 2nd truck.

It's going to be sort of the same as my 1st, but a little different.

It's going to have: CPE GP Fault Line race chassis
Traxxas Velineon Brushless system
Traxxas big bore shocks
Pro-line Ford Super Duty body
CPE/RC4WD Rumble Clod racing tires
Juggernaut wheels
CPE 1" wheel spacer kit

I don't know if I will run sway bars on this truck.
IF I do, i will be hittin up Mike Hesse for another pair.

Now I just need to decide on a color for the body.
I want to do something different.
I hope Brett carries the GP decal set again, I want to do another GP themed body.
I was thinking, the colors in the GP graphics are orange, black, red, and yellow; I think I want to choose one of those colors to use as the color for the body.

I got the Fault Line race chassis , Rumble tires and lower shock mounts etc, in the mail today.
I was curious, so I took a Rumble tire and mounted it onto one of my Imex diamond wheels just to see how it would look.
I think I'm going to stick with using the Jugg wheels as I had originally planned. The tires are the same height as the RedCat tires just as I thought, only wider. My 2nd GP is coming Thursday, so I will hold all these parts till then.

LOL.

I know man; I just have the chassis and tires at the moment.
I'm still waiting on my 2nd Ground Pounder truck and Traxxas Velineon system and Pro-line body.
I am hoping Brett @ CPE gets more GP decal sets in, I would really like to do a GP theme.

I have to make an adjustment to the long steering rods between the knuckles. For some reason at the moment, the back wheels are pointed in toward the servo.
The front wheels are pointed in toward the chassis.
I need to lengthen the aforementioned rods, to get the tires to track straight.

But, so far, so good.

Strange, those are the factory steering links.

I'd double check the front link setup you have on there. At least the upper ones. Should end up looking something like this:

Well I studied your photos, and made changes to the front links.
I saw where you had the rear upper links installed on the chassis, but I chose to leave mine at the location I chose.
I think that if I re-located the rear upper links to how you had them, the left one would interfere with the spur gear.

As for the steering links, yeah it seems like they were a few mm's short.
When I bolted the wheels on, the front wheels were toe'd in toward the chassis.
The rear wheels were toe'd in toward the rear servo.
I unbolted the long bar between the knuckles and cranked the rod end out a little.

I can tell just by looking at the truck though, it's going to be wicked fast when I get it running.:tmb

The drivers-side rear upper link will interfere with the spur gear if you use all the stock mounting hardware. We included (should have anyway) one threaded ball end to replace the stock unthreaded one. That difference along with the shorter hardware provided eliminates the locknut and gives you the clearance needed between the rod end and spur.

Where you have them will be fine as well though.

Well, I have my 2nd GP up and running now.
I had to figure out the rear suspension set up; I wrestled with it for a couple days, but thanks to help from Brett at CPE, and from looking at pictures on his site, I figured it out.
I just needed to drop the transmission down into its lowest mounting position, and move the motor over to the right a little bit.
The rear driveshaft, snakes its way over the top of the back of the motor can. So, I had to set up the rear suspension to facilitate that.
Then, I had to try and remember how to set the radio to the esc. I got that done too.
It was so easy, I felt like such a dope when I realized it.
