So I put a Traxxas Velineon System in my truck.

Cool... Should I get a bout 10-15 minutes run time out of them with a brushless system and 15-20 minutes with a brushed motor?

Lynn
You should get more than that with the 5000... You also should look into the Hobbycity lipos. They are great, and CHEAP. Less expensive than that Duratrax... and way better. If you are timid about stepping to lipo, go with the Hobby City LiFe batteries. Saw those work this morning, and they are incredible.

Most brushless run 5mm shaft with brushed motors running 3mm. The pinions cpe sells are ofna mod1 gears. I ended up going to www.nitrohouse.com they had more variety of pinions to choose from. Just about everyone is manufacturing mod1 pinions. You can find them on towerhobbies website also.

I beg to differ, many brushless motors are 3mm shaft
it it is a 1/10th 540 brushless it will be 3mm

brushless motors with longer cans made for higher voltages (1/8th scale) you will find the 5mm shafts.

He asked about the traxxas VXL and it is a 3mm shaft. We don't want to confuse anyone.:wnk

Thanks,
Does the stock GP motor have a 3MM shaft as well?
I will buy a 43T and 10-11T gears and put them with my stock components until I can go brushless if I can, if not I'll hold on to them until I do.

Stock motor from the GP is 3mm
Swapping to the mod1 now will prevent a headache later. You made your own version of the ''Tad'' brace and a coarser gear will help as well. :wnk

Thanks,
What brand are the spurs?
Lynn
Spurs are from us and allow the use of the stock slipper clutch discs. I'm sure other brands would fit, but you may have to modify the center hole to get it to fit properly on the tranny shaft.

The stock GP motor, and just about any brushed motor replacement uses a 3mm shaft. Most 540 can brushless motors also use a 3m shaft. 550 sized brushless motors bump up to a 5mm shaft. 3mm Mod1 spurs are harder to find, but they also make a 5-3mm adapter that would allow you to use any 5mm pinion on a 3mm motor shaft.
