have you ever heard the weather term LAKE EFFECT SNOWS i live on the shores of lake erie and when the lake is open ( not frozen yet ) we dont count the snow in inches when we get a storm, and being in a wheelchair i spend a lot of time in doors through the wintertime unless i head up to cleveland for an appointment. thank god for 4x4 pickups with hand controls....................and beer distibutors that deliever !!! oh yea cant foget the pizza guy that delievers too !!!!!!!
Yeah winter makes it tough for my boy also who is in a power wheelchair. His hands will get so cold he won't be able to operate his chair. But he does like the cool weather, he gets so stinking hot in his chair in the summertime. I like how you go to 90% of the stores/shopping and the plow guys will plow the snow right over the wheelchair spots on the curbs to get up to the sidewalk. A ton of people just don't think about a person in a wheelchair unless they have one in the family or know a friend who is in one. Or the people who just cannot seem to park in their own "ramp space" Those spots are designed so people can drop their ramps out of the side of the van and their car is half way into it and you just don't have enough room. Luckily I ordered our last van with a rear entry lift so we can park anywhere and still use the ramp.

Glad you got the delivery people to keep your supplies up!! :tmb

boy do i have some good stories about handicap parking spots. I have a good experiance I have to share. Ok I drive a grand prix the gtx version yes the upgraded version of a gtp it is all black and very dark windows. I hate people looking at me that is why the dark windows but any way I get a ton of dirty looks from people when I pull into handicap parking spots plus I am young looking so that dont help either. Most come from those jack 000 lazy old people or fat people with there 3/4 ton pickup or very expensive yukon or other suv that convince there doctors they need a handicap parking pass when they are perfectly fine to walk. But the best thing ever was when a person parked in the van ramp between the driver side of my car and another car. I come wheeling up to my car and can hardly make it to my car well I got the door open and slide in than at first I did not have enough room to take apart the chair to get it in but after a few times of slamming my car door into the other vehical I now had enough room to get the chair in and leave. Serves that stupid pos right.

-when I used to go out, (I had a 97 Caravan w/ lift in it), my mom would leave me on the sidewalk, get the van, & pick me up, (so we didn't need to use the lift, the 6-8" of sidewalk ht., & a wheelie got me in, easily). One day, the handicapped bus pulls up, to pick up people, and the funny part is, I was close to where they were, & one of the people yells to the driver, "we got 1 more comin' on", I was like "NO, OH SORRY, NOT ME FELLAS", but I can understand why they thought I was needing a lift:)
