sidewinder sv2 issues... SUCCESS! page 3

Finally got my escs wired up... but can't get em to work.
I've got a y connector from the escs to the rx.
Rx is bound to the radio and nothing!

Both sv2s power up, but they won't run.
If I disconnect the y, each esc works, but they run in reverse.
I do have steering, though.

What's up?

I think you need to disconnect one of the red wires from the esc to the servo y-harness, due to the BEC type. Just lift the little tab pull the wire out and electrical tape it to the lead.

ok... tried removing one, then the other; doesnt help.
these escs shouldnt need that anyway.
each one is calibrated and programmed and work fine idependently.
(although they spin in reverse for some reason)
but when i "y" them together, they blink all three lights and beep continuously.

The SV2s seem to have issues when running in a dual motor setup. Most that run them have to run separate batteries to each ESC. My guess is they are fighting each other due to a common connection of some sort. Just for kicks, try removing the red ESC wire from BOTH controllers and power the Rx with an external BEC or reciever pack. (both ESC switches must be on also)

As for the motor direction, just switch any 2 of the wires going to each motor to change direction or use a Castle link to change it in the ESC setup.

i really didnt want to run two packs or a bec, that why i went with sidewinders in the first place.

Bill, i might take you up on that offer, though.
let me try a few more things first.

if i use a bec, i need a second battery anyway, huh?
if im gonna do that, i can just run a pack to each esc.
wish i knew this wouldnt work before i soldered the escs together in a y for one batt.

if you use the BEC you can wire it to your battery plug on a ESC. It's pretty small, with small wires so easy to configure. Voltage can be adjusted using a castle link and pc too.

This seems like an issue most people are having with the SV2's which sucks because the Sidewinders are the only cheap nice ESC option for dual motor applications.



I hope castle fixes this soon.

this is hard though... at castle they think that there isn't a problem. Their resident clod guy says he is running dual esc (sv2s) from a single battery with no problem. Mine is just cogging- not as bad as Joe is describing. In my personal attempt to trouble shoot I did disconnect both BEC and ran a separate battery just for the servo and no dice.

Until this is resolved- ezruns (when in stock) or older sidewinders (a little more moolah).

I'm having the same problem with mine. It did not want to link with my radio and it won't run with 1 pack no matter what. I sent them back to castle and they checked out fine. I got the same story from their clod guy as well. They made a lot of excuses but in the end I'm running 2 packs. I'm pretty pissed off over the whole deal. I spent 100$ on a new radio and another 100 on a 50c pack that I didn't need. I also spent money on shipping. They said it was the flysky radio and then hobbyking pack. It takes a long time for the radio to link with the ESC. It didn't go like the manual said. Mine ran in reverse too. You do need to link them one at a time.

Did anyone think to ask Castle's "Clod Guy" for pics and a video of his setup? If he is the only one not having an issue running dual SV2's on one battery without an issue and they are frustrating me; I would want to see his. Especially if i had to pay to ship them my ESC's and have them sent back from Castle stating there was no repair needed. Not to mention them talking to me over the phone and not have their equipment work any better.

Just my 2 cents

Yeah that's a good idea Jerry and Jon- lets see his setup.

Personally for mine... I have update the firmware, I wired them using a y-harness for the esc and parallel battery deans connector (similar to my other trucks), done the rpm test through the software ect... troubleshooted everything I could think of and what others have suggested: Batteries, BEC bypass, Digital and Anolog Servos, radio's, esc re-sync, timing on/off, 4pole motors and regular cm4600kv- everything...

Personallly I use Spektrum rx/tx and I have tried Savox digital servo, HiTec and CPE generic brand.

They just don't work... can't wait until I hear and see someone that does work. I thought a guy jumped on before and said he successfully has run this setup- but I wanted to confirm that we are comparing apples to apples and didn't get the chance.

I know I have literally tried everything and resolved in my own mind- that they don't work and there are other products out there that do... it's cool

i was convinced before that Budhatrain's issue was the sct escs.
now i know that they are the same freakin thing as the sv2s.

ill get a pic of mine when i get home.
I wired the escs together in a Y and then to a traxxas plug.
my rx is a losi/spektrum 2.4.
the esc Y to the rx is a traxxas revo Y connector.
