Ive got these photos in my 'New 2 RCMT' thread under Axial. I thought maybe not everyone visits that area, so Id post them here for all to check out.

My second AX-10. First one is a crawler, this one I picked up this week to build into a Monster Truck! I call it Scorpion King.

Its come a long way in one week, but so much more to go!

Im thinking eventually 4 Link, More Power, and plenty of polished alloy!

Enjoy!

I like it. It's just so nice to see an AX10 made into a proper monster. Bravo, good sir:tmb Please post more pics when the bling arrives.

Bling Update

Yesterday, in the interest of added strength and for no better excuse than to add more polished alloy. I picked up these front end bits from Integy.

Steering seems to be improved a bit, and they were easy to install, except that a few of the needed screws were missing from one of the packages.

Also the bushings fit differently than stock. I hope I put everything together right?!

(Picked up the camo Clodbuster on the RCMT homepage today! Thats going to be next on my project list!)

So what next? I have a carbon fiber rear servo plate on the way, and soon; more polished alloy. Oh, also I have come up with a trick way to make a body lift from stock Axial parts. I just have to wait for the items to arrive!

Enjoy!

Some New Modifications!

Found this SCX-10 type Frame Rail extention by Pro-Line today at the local Hobby Shop!

I went in for some double sided tape, as my stock electronics came loose after my first big jump this past weekend. Thought this would be a cool modification, and a great place to mount my electronics!

Installed super easy, rerouted the wires, retaped the electronics, and started putting it back together...

Everything in its place...

Overview... Id like to get one for the back of the truck for no real reason... Nothing to put in it! Although I think the alloy bumpers fit into the ends of these frame extention kits... so for some realism/scale style, I might just add it!

I want to add the new Pro-Line Vertical Body Mount kit for the AX-10, but I dont know if the kit is compatible with these Frame Extention kits? I want to seriously lift the body up!!!

Making a solid foundation...

I also added previously the links that brace between the frame rails at the shock mounts. I dont know for sure, but it seems like these go a long ways torwards making a really stiff chasis. So I found some longer links of the same style today at the Hobby Shop!

I installed the new links further down in the frame at the top of the driveline range of movement. Just adding these two lower links made this thing feel like a brick. Totally removing any flex previously felt.

It may seem like over kill, but this evening I ran it through a battery, and was totally amazed! Chasis torque flex is now almost totally non existant! By adding these extra links, and moving the electronics forward on the Frame Extentions, Id say that 90% of the massive torque flex I had is gone! I still have yet to switch over to a 4-link, which I was advised by several great members here, would reduce, or eliminate that.

More Power?

I almost bought a new, faster motor today also... but chickened out. The hobby store had one that was 'a lot faster', and worked with the stock electronics.

I want it really fast. So Im wondering if I should upgrade ALL the electronics and not go for a motor thats compatible with what I have stock?

I have a hard time replacing anything that isnt worn out actually. I may run it till it dies... So I have some research to do!

A RTR truck usually comes with a very low grade electronics package. The ESC included isn't up to ''a really fast motor'' so if you do want more motor get a much better ESC and save the stock one for when or if you decide to sell the truck.

Thanks William! I will take your advice!

Ghoul... AX-10's are a great package. I think you will really like it!

Everyone takes them in the crawler direction, me included on my first one... So I decided to build a serious old school style Monster Truck with my second.

I think its coming along well, although I have some big plans yet for it!

Make sure you post a thread on yours when you get it!

I will definitely be starting a thread for it. I think I'm going to go in the scale trail truck direction with it.

For all out monster truck style bashing I've been thinking about picking up a Clod. I've been missing mine since I've been back here on RCMT. I love that you can take the AX10 in whichever direction you like with a few mods though. Versatile is always good.

Funny you mention picking up a Clod!

I just bought a Clodzilla from a trusted member here this week!

Mostly to satisfy a desire for an 'old school' truck, but also; because Ive never actually even seen a Clod in person! I have no idea how its going to drive, etc!

It has a ton done to it already, so its a good start to a project. Of course I'll have a new thread for it too! :tmb

I LOVED my Clod. If/when I get my hands on one again I'm going to keep it pretty old school with a zilla II chassis or even aluminum tub chassis if I can find one. Clod's performance can be all over the board obviously...if you're keeping it old school then expect bouncy and slow but most of all FUN. :D

Rear Axle Plate in Carbon Fiber arrived today from Axial!

Doesnt weight anything, supposedly helps make the axle more stiff. Im sure a normal servo plate would have done the same job... but this is a project remember!

I also picked up another Frame Extention kit from Pro-Line today. I dont have anything to put in it, but I want the option of adding the scale truck bumpers for more realism.

Easy to install, and I think it makes it look more like a 'truck' than a crawler now.

Next modifcation is going to try and figure out how to make the Pro-Line Vertical Body Mount kit work with these Frame Extentions!

Also.... Drove it straight off a big jump tonight... its holding up great!!!

Looking good! Who cares what the carbon fiber plate does...it looks cool! lol ;)

Bumpers would look great with the right body. Planning on changing the body eventually or sticking with this one?

Good question!

I actually like the stock body, but when I look through all the photos here of custom trucks... Some of the other bodies are amazing! Especially with custom paint!

I havent really taken the time to research that area of the hobby. Ive liked the look of Ford F-350's... If I drive it though, Im not sure I want to go with full blown custom paint and chance ruining it?

Do collectors have 'shelf' and 'bash' bodies? Plus I need to figure out that vertical body mount set up!

Right!

Thats a great kit! Unfortunately it doesnt work with the Frame Extention kits that I have on the front and rear of my Scorpion.

I may get some angle bent alloy and just go that route.

I actually broke my rear 3 Link tonight! It pulled straight through the axle mount! Screw and all! Looks like Im forced now to get the 4 Link upgrade.

I needed something to do tomorrow morning anyway! :tmb
