Scale Bounty Hunter King Build

I saw that it was mentioned that the upper arm has to be shimmed to level out the axles. I was wondering if the arms on the HPI #HPI85637 tree would work so you do not have to shim them. If not what shims would be good to use? I am going to order the parts tree, so I figured I could get the most out of my money, instead of using just one of the steering arm ends.

This makes me want a WK now haha. My local track is having an open stampede class this winter, I know some of the guys wanted it to be a spec stampede. I wonder if I could convince them to go for a spec WK class for next winter.

I found this on Youtube and thought it was pretty cool. It looks like someone in Johnnyshore's group made a huge outdoor arena. Someone spent a lot time and money to put that together.

Any more info Johnny?

I've been meaning to post that video on here, but keep forgetting, so thanks OSD!

The track is owned by a father & son duo who are members of Team Extreme RC, another monster truck club in the Twin Cities. They normailly only run bigger monster trucks like Maxx's and Revos, but this year they added Wheely Kings to their Back Yard Bash summer series. The trucks look simply AMAZING on the track, and they're even more fun to drive on the dirt!!

The next Bash is on the 31st, and I cannot WAIT to throw it down again!!

Thanks for posting the video. That's a great facility for your trucks to run. Your Digger was on rails as usual. Fun to watch. I had to regroup a little on the WK's for my sons and me. We went with some bodies that were more readily available, as the custom bodies were just taking waaaaay too long. Hopefully we'll have ours finished in about a month. Just painting and a few custom touches.

It's been a while since I've updated this thread, and there have been some changes to the truck that I thought I'd share...

In a never ending search for that "perfect" suspension setup, I've invested in some Losi Crawler shocks, modified for use in a race oriented truck. Bottom cartridge Losi shocks are probably my favorite shocks of all time (they're basically the same as when they came out in 89 on the JRX-2), and with Ti-Nitrade coated shafts, these are butter smooth...

Out of the package, the shocks/springs are too stiff for the light weight WK, so I drilled the pistons out to 1/16th, and threw on cut WK stock springs...after several test builds and rebuilds, I ended up with 15w in the front, and 20w in the rear. The truck has very little rebound on landing, zero leaks, and there's zero "stick-tion". I'm very happy with the shock setup on the truck.

I moved the upper shock mounts from the shock towers, to the screw hole just below the towers. Gives the truck a smidge more suspension travel, and should offer a little bit more "cush" on landings. The truck does have a slightly higher COG, but should be negligible. The truck's tires have a glaze on them that lets the truck flat track on the carpet, so I've got to be on it pretty hard to risk traction rolling.

I've been running a 27 turn Axial motor for the last couple weeks, and while the fan inside the motor has a cool whine to it at full rpm, it's a bit off the pace from some of the other Saturn powered trucks in the group, so a new Saturn 27t is on the way...hoping it gets the Digger some needed top end.

Our first points series race of the fall is this Friday...I'll post results and videos once I have them ready.

L8r!

Here's a video from last weekend's MMRC points race...

I was able to grab the top qualifier spot, but matched up against a very fast Son Uva Digger truck in the 2nd round, and was taken out early in the bracket.

After running the Digger body for a couple months now, I finally got sick of looking at it...the kids sure like it at the shows we do, but I've just never been a huge fan, so I decided to give my WK a much needed make-over! I decided to bring back the name I used on my old Maxx and Revo trucks from a few years ago...let me introduce, the REAPER!!!

The decals look sort of white-ish in the pics, but they're actually a blood red color to match the chassis (the flash washed out the colors). I blacked out the wheels, and stole the Digger headlights to mount in the grill to give it some light up "eyes". I'm pretty happy with the look.

Awesome video, as usual! Good looking truck too, it's always cool to have your own truck with its own name.
