Well if your wondering if there is a way of making the REDCAT a bit longer and fitting a SC10 or slash body keeping it 4WD it is possible.

And this is exactly what I am doing to run a SC10 body

My plan on extending the drive shaft?

Original shaft was 2 ends pressed and cross pinned to an aluminum tube. So, some K & S alum tubing opened the end with a drill till it fit snug on the ends. Then dissasemble, drill a tight hole on each end for the pins, and pressed back in with a vice.

The upper chassis support plate I plan on making a completly new one, for now I just cut it, and extended with some 0.125 styrene and 3mm screws to fasten it together, drilled and tapped.

Stretched the chassis 2.125 to fit the SC10 body 13 inch wheelbase
With slash wheels it widens out the front track to just a hair under 10.5

Since I landed terribly off a 8 foot jump and bent my rear tower a little I decided to try a brace. I also redid my upper chassis support to aluminum.

Looking good, I've thought of bracing the shock towers against each other. I was thinking some 1/4"aluminum rod, drilled and tapped, and run from the top of each tower. I have a similar designed 1/16 buggy that bends the cheap aluminum towers all the time. Must be all the screen doors China bought up and melted down into RC parts to sell back to us.:laugh

yeah, it is really soft. It's like drilling in hard plastic. :tong

Like the truck though, I hammer it and if it breaks it breaks. So far though I haven't replaced much. A gear (that was my fault 100%), and a newbie drove head on into a tree wide open a couple weeks ago and only broke a front arm. As fast as this goes on lipo you'd expect much more damage.

im getting back into R/C, i have an AX-10, and the SC trucks really hit the mark for me when they entered the market. ( i was getting out of R/C when the Slash appeared :( )

the redcat really hit the mark as it is 4wd an so affordable, but i need an honest opinion on its durability, and this thread ive found extremely useful, as i plan to do exactly what you did williamg. could you put a few more pics of the mods you made for reference? and maybe some useful info on how the redcat's durability is? thanks

I'm selling this cheap, shipped for 125 and it's RTR

If interested I can work with you to make the deal. I need the money to fund my current project.

As for more pictures, I'd have to tear it apart to get more detailed images of mods and I won't because it's for sale.

Durability...
I'd say great, I take it to partys and let ANYONE drive it. On nimh it's still fast, but better control than if on lipo. Only item ever broken in a crash was a front susp arm, a newbie hit a tree wide open and hooked the front tire.

recieved this truck from williamg, i had an great purchase experience from him, as he was very patient waiting for the snail mail money order, and even with i few snags in the process he still came through. would recommend purchases from him in the future, just use paypal, its so much easier! lol

oh yeah, he sent extra stuff i didnt think i'd get, which made the deal even sweeter!
