Sanity Check

Well I got the battery tray/battery mount all together and took it out for spin today. I'm pleased with the result. I used .125 Black Kydex sheet and 1/4 square aluminum bar as cross members for the tray which holds the battery and reciever. In order to accurately center drill the aluminum bar I had to make a crush collet insert for my lathe - always awesome to learn a new trick. To actually mount the battery to the plate I used a Twinforce battery holder and made extensions to raise the posts on both sides in order to fit the 4s lipo pack. I ended up running a 66/20tooth pinion as the 12tooth pinion was just too 'geary' and caused the truck to want to nose dive when off throttle. Emaxx tranny is basically stock except it's locked in high gear and I made spacers to prevent the dogs from slamming into the sides of the gears (did that years ago) I also have a Gen 2 RRP slipper setup (also NOS lol)/delrin spur gear on it as I didn't think the old school rulon peg setup from traxxas would have held the torque of the motor. Steering isn't great and the inner beads had unglued on the front wheels so it was really bad in the video. A steering upgrade would be good - any recommendations?

These pics aren't great but black on black is hard to photograph. My neighbor was out with her kids and she was also kind enough to take a video for me. I'll edit/resize that and post up later.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I ended up with exactly what I wanted, if anything, maybe not quite insane enough.
