you know, this means I have to build that ranger now...
That's what I thought I was going to have to use first because I couldn't find this chevy body anywhere.

Thanks for the pics. I have had a 1/6 H2 body, a set of juggy axles, txt trans and some other parts for a few years but only took apart the body. I also have a set of clod axles. This would be my first real project truck.
Would it be easier to start with clod axles?
The cool thing with clod axles is that you don't have to worry about a transmission and drive shafts. They do need a couple beefed up parts if you want to run them under a big heavy truck though. The axle tubes and knuckles usually don't last to long under decent beatings.

haha the first time I seen the video (since my friend made it) I could not figure out what that noise was! Then I seen it in the one clip and remembered it being there. It's the new axon racing anti gravity thing. (hover craft) and honestly, it was pretty darn cool. Was flying over snow like it was nothing.

Been a while since I updated :pics

I was waiting to have some chassis plates machined for me but the few machininsts I had lined up to do it bailed on me. I got sick of it sitting in parts and just decided to get it back together.

A little testing footage.

Chevy Monster alive again

Now for some real driving!

Took it to the rocks to see how it would do. The transmission complained quite a bit (which I found out later was actually the rear diff) but other than that it had plenty of power with the current gearing and the suspension seems pretty stable. Center of gravity was a lot better than I thought. I'm not running any foams at all in the tires. Sometimes it's ok and other times it's not, mainly when there is a heavy load on one tire. I think I'm going to have to modify the stock foams and put them back in.

Then it was over to the baseball field for some low traction high speed testing! They didn't mind me running for a few minutes.

You can definitely see the need for foams when running wide open.

To much fun!

Next up on the list is fabbing some quick disconnect sway bars. Trying to find some shocks that hold oil and still allow for the stiff spring I'm using now and figure out the diff issue.

I'm updating the first post with the trucks current setup.

i had a few custom sway bar ideas using the txt chassis so i am interested to see what you come up with. one of my ideas involved the cantilever setup and the stock sway bars from tamiya(modified). they were just on the drawing board though.

hey couldn't you have made the chassis wider to fit the e-maxx tranny? -as opposed to chopping it. just asking because i was afraid of cutting mine, what if i didn't like the end result? i was thinking of just either extending or replacing the rods that connect the 2 chassis halves. LMK what you think. would it work? what would be the draw backs from doing so?

My issue with widening the chassis was I wanted it to fit under the body correctly and I also needed it to be as narrow or narrower as the shock mounting blocks on the axles so the shocks were mounted vertically.

Thanks! I still need to really clean up that plastic chassis. I had to cut it out to make everything fit since the reservoirs were there and I changed the upper shock mounts.

I pulled the rear axle to inspect it last night and the ring and pinion were definitely hurting. I'm getting another set of axles today so I'll probably swamp the ring and pinion and make some spacers to keep that pinion in the housing straight.

Nah not making it to worlds. I have a baby on the way to keep me busy!

Took it out again today and had a blast with it.

Didn't get to much video. It was a new place to run with some massive hills and TONS of mud. I actually got MYSELF stuck in the mud haha

Bashing video

Then towards the end I was racing up a hill against a slash and drifted over to the left and caught a down tree head on.....

Did some damage.Looks like it snapped the housing right off and managed to snap the axle too.

OUCH! that is some crazy damage! that truck must be heavy to break it like that. i was thinkin about running revo diffs, knuckles, and shafts to make some custom tube/straight axles on a 1/6 scale truck but i can't find a body.

I'm not sure where to go with the axles. I really like the x-factor axles because they have awesome links mounts and don't look to terrible. I'm wondering if I can't find some 1/8th scale buggy diffs I can get to fit in them.

Don't bother with it. I'll go ahead and PP you, oh, how about $100 for the truck as it sits and you won't have to worry about it anymore. :laugh

That truck is so cool, it makes me want to do a large scale project of my own. Very cool truck! :tmb

She's back up and running for the time being. Ended up snapping the output shaft on the diff, trashing the servo housing and of course the axle housing. Good thing I had spares!

Went out to do a little trail running and snapped a few pics with 1.9s in them for size reasons

Poser shot :D

I think I might have found a spiral cut ring and pinion diff assembly that will work in the X-factor axles too!

Well I got it muddy today and took the camera with me. To bad the fun didn't last long :bang

Chevy Monster Muddin video

Dead in the water :-(

Good effort from my buddy's 2.2

Electronics stayed nice and dry. I think I'm going to line the top of the rear fenders with a foam weather stripping so that when the cover is down it seals up better.

Look at that little feller
