RC4WD Punisher Shafts

Loaded_Heavy

Formally Breaker 1-9
Well I was lucky to have been able to try a set out for my TXT and after all the horror stories I've read and pics I've seen of these Punisher Shafts broken apart at the joints my question was is there anything I can do to make them stronger? I remember something being mentioned on a forum that you could dip it in something to make it stronger. I can't remember if it was aerospace lube or something similar but it I know someone mentioned it being dipped in something that would make it alot stronger. Could someone here please help me out with this. Much Thanks.

I don't know about dipping them into anything, but Cryogenic freezing is a way to make metals and some other material stronger. I know some have suggested dipping parts in liquid nitrogen to do the same thing but that doesn't work.

I'm not sure if the rapid temp loss makes it brittle but the reason it doesn't work is because the part needs to be bought down to that temp and maintain it for a few hours or longer depending on material, thickness, etc. The molecules need time to align themselves in a more crystaline structure to gain strength. It kinda like boiling plastic parts.

they're aluminum, so anodize them. that makes aluminum stronger

they really need to make something out of stainless with titanium joints Teflon coated

If I'm not mistaken these are indeed made of stainless steel as these are I believe the newer ones Hua came out with. I guess I can only hope for the best when testing these for him but I won't hold my breath on it staying apart.

I thought the new ones were made of Stainless, I don't think you need to make em stronger, if those break just run some Revo shafts and be done with it.

You can't break Revo shafts, I've tried.

As for those Punisher Shafts, Watch for slop buildup, and try to minimize any slop that its creating, the more slop, the more the snap.

We have been continuous improving our Punisher Shaft, if you have a problem with what you got, send us an email, we will see what we can do for you.

Not that Mike is going to like this as I do sell RC4WD parts but the punisher shafts are junk and they always have been. For the money you spend, its a waste and people think because they are metal they are stronger. Here is where principals are backwards. Plastic shafts like tmaxx and revo give a little and flex----saving your drivetrain. But if thats(drivetrain) all beefed up, the torque has to go somewhere and BLAM!! Your out a whole lot of $$$$ and RC4WD has said for a couple of years they are working on the Punishers. They have been revised but since they dont pull or crawl on a regular basis or hardly at all, its only by what they THINK is going to work. Revo / TMAXX shafts are WAY stronger and ALOT less expensive.

Just being honest !

But they do look cool :tmb (I'm not buying them, just saying that for the form over function crowd, these are great).

Actually, yes, a TXT can break Revo shafts. I have done it on my Tweaked TXT. (Apparently I'm notorious for having overpowered MT's ;P )
Nothing is indestructable, some things can be more durable than another.

And the steeper the angle the more problems you get with the shaft.

I have my TXT's diff's shimmed, to reduce slop, but already have broken the front diff from braking aggressively (I just had to chase down the little Scalpel and run it over) It kept zig zagging all over the parking lot trying to not get run over.

can revo shafts be used on a Twin Force? I see the punisher shafts made for the Twin but if they are weak then I wont bother.... sorry if this is hi-jackin', I dont mean to.

I tried looking at the manual and it shows an 8mm inner diameter bearing on the Twin Force? Is this correct info? If so, I do believe the Revo shaft is not large enough to fit over the shaft. You need a 6mm shaft.
