Razdawg's Ground Pounder Thread

Well finally got the time to install my Turnigy 120 Turbo esc and 10.5 sensored motor. After all the additions (carbon steel drive shafts, axle braces, hardened diff gears, Zero shocks), I was really excited to get it out in the backyard. Boy a sensored motor sure is smooth. No stuttering like with the old Hobbywing. Everything was great until......I apparently snapped the rear drive shaft pin where it connects with the transmission.
Is this a problem with the Junfac shafts? Good news it is not an expensive fix but arrrrrggggghhhhh just another frustration.

how did you like the esc as opposed to others?

what battery type 2s 3s?

also what do think about them zero's?

I got them and the XD piggy's and they are the best I have had to date but have not tried the power strokes in person yet.

with gmade being cheaper and working great to date I have had no reason to try them as I keep using the same over and over and they still work and look new.

Northern,

I couldn't be happier with the Zero shocks. I may need some lighter springs but otherwise they have performed well.

I have only used the esc once and no complaints. The documentation is poor but you can find what you need on Hobbyking or other websites. I haven't messed with the boost or turbo features yet.

I am currently running a 2 500 mah 40 c Gens Ace hardcase lipo.

LOL! My driveshaft pin came out on the 1st pack!! Not a big deal,I don't like the ring collar thing anyway, but I swapped out for these, because the pins snap from shifting out to far and that hardened steel just scissors away on that pin, these pins are recessed so yo don't need the rings, and they won't shift! You can still put the rings over the pins as an added measure, but they won't move again!!When I linked the pic somebody elses pic pops up?

Thanks for the tip im2tall.

Just to confirm this is what you are suggesting
NEW Team Durango Driveshaft Pin B-Type 2mm DEX410R/2010 S(4 TD310120 NIB
Now just waiting on the Junfac replacement parts since I lost the collar and set screw when the pin snapped.

In the meantime I trimmed the Parma El Camino body. The wheel wells don't match up so I'll have to do a bit of hacking but I guess if you want something different you have to accept some challenges.

Well the Durango pins didn't work as they are too short....any suggestions out there for a strong replacement pin for the Junfac shafts? The old pounder is just sitting there torn apart and it makes me sad (and mad at the money I've put into it).......:conf

It's supposed to be a 2x14mm pin! Those are the specs! I can't verify the part right, but you do need a 2x14mm pin from what I remember! Those Durango pins are the only extras I have in my parts from what I can remember!Im over stocked on spares and junk,I dislike the effort it takes to sell off all my spares/extras(Going to the P.O etc.) So the part # might be wrong, but you can find the right part off the specs!!

You can contact this guy here for braces. He is out of stock at the moment but wouldn't hurt to contact him.

You can also contact Mike Hesse

http://shop.hessemachine.com/Clodbuster_c2.htm

There is a member here that makes them also for a cheaper price.

Thank ya very much!! I found the Hesse ones, outlawhobby.....

You wouldn't by chance know of the guy who makes the cheaper ones do!?

And not to sound like a complete ********* or disrespectful to the person but are they cheaper for a reason!?

Thanks again

Thinking about making the GP more of a trail truck? I have some old Ax10 Deadbolt tires laying around..now just need a power system.

I attempted to use mine as a crawler. Geared it right down with a high torque low turn motor. The middle of the chassis is too low. It was always getting hung up due to the poor ramp over angle. Ended up fitting Clod axles to it. Best thing I ever did to my GP!

Interesting Sixtys.

So does the CPE Barbarian chassis fit GP trans and axles? I know at one time I thought I saw something along those lines.

Also how does everyone do their links? Just got the GP going again and after 6 minutes stock link end broke.

I don't know if that's the case but I do know that the GP center trans is I think a little cheaper than the Axial, but the Axial axles are 10 times better than the GP ones. That's why I don't currently have one

Well my GP axles have the hardened gears and Freestyle RC braces so I really dont want to have to buy Axial ones for $100 or what ever. Kind of want to stick with the GP stuff that I have already invested money on.

Yeah just the plastic end. I may actually have some Traxxas ends around somewhere.
