Im2tall - How do you like the Gmade Zero shocks? I am trying to decide if I want to up grade from my MT2 ones (stock not the aluminum ones).

I can't decide if the Zero's, Piggyback, or Diaphragm ones from Junfac/Gmade would be best for backyard bashing.

Sorry for the late response, I just noticed! Honestly the truck hasn't even been driven since I finished doing the rebuild, the weather has been terrible, I'm not much of a winter person! Snow,Ice, and Water combined sucks!

I hear ya Im2tall.

Well got some of the goodies installed:

CPE Wheely Bar (Still need to add wheels like suggested by Sixtysguy)

And the Fatboy Powdercoated Freestyle RC Braces

BTW the rear steering lockout is thanks to Jerry Matoon!

Now I just need to figure out a new power system.

I have this:

But I think I want to go waterproof. I know that there are the Castle SCT and SV3 system. Also some from Hobbyking and the WP SC8 from Hobbywing.

Anyone have a suggestion or input on the Castle SV3 or SCT. I kind of want waterproof for the GP so I can do some winter runs.

I guess they're the same, the upgrade for both would be the Max really!! I suggest which ever one is water proof?LOL! Hey! Is that motor sensored?

I have the zero's and XD piggy's.

have not tried the proline power strokes yet but so far I like these two more then any other shock I have used or built

The Xd's are like a model on there own parts wise lol.

they are really bulky and stiff for solid axle's so I used a lighter spring from losi stock oil it comes with and the piston the most holes.

2 holes and stock spring were way to stiff for the light wheely king.

I have them on there now and dialed in and like them but there is only one way they will clear my chassis due to the piggy and spring diameter.

xd's they feel just right out of the box very smooth and ready to go they also have a thicker spring diameter then the average shock cost less and less parts then the XD's but there great straight up.

they also come with upper ball ends that work where the XD's come with nothing just a blank loop and leave's you to be creative some used fuel tubing but I happened to find some hd ofna balls with conical washer's to get what I wanted out of mine mounting wise.

there both great but in the long run there is a little more tinkering to do with the xd's in both building and mounting.

either have leaked bent or scraped so I am happy with them both where all other leaked bent or get a horrible finish in no time.

for the money to me these are both worth every cent.

Also keep in mind the cold weather can and will take it's toll on the softer pot metal gears.

Does anyone know about Rc Screwz? There is a set of them on the bay. Is it worth upgrading to stainless steel hardware?

Niice!!! If you can/want you should get some of those Hesse Clod knuckles, and links, when you start driving it real hard(which you will,it's hard not too, they handle surprisingly well!),those dang gone knuckle screws seem to start loosening up! The Hesse knuckles are aluminum so you can thread lock the tip of the screw(after you slide it through the bushing,so it won't seize!),and never have to worry again! They're more of an investment rather than bling, because they do help in the long run,and you don't have to hack your rims or use wideners! Not to mention they add long term value to your rig!

Note: Wth the O-ring mod I have an O-ring on both sides of the shock ball now to fill in the washer and top of the shock! It's feels alot better not having any metal to metal contact! OCD kicked in yesterday!LOL

Here's a good view

Oh yeah I forgot to mention! I use RC4WD Long rod ends on the shock shafts to give them more length to raise them up! I noticed in your pic your using the bottom shock hole! The longer rod ends will raise the shocks to the top 2 holes! Hope this helps!

Those Hesse knuckles look very solid (of course all his stuff does.) Not sure if I can spring for those just yet maybe after tax time.

Not sure i have seen the links you are talking about?

The shocks look and feel pretty good. I have added an o ring on each side like you suggested. I will have to look at those long rod ends as I would like a little more ride height. Since no one races monster trucks around here this one is a backyard "beater" for lack of a better term.

Now I just need to solder the Turnigy etc and motor and wait for all the snow to thaw.

Does any one have a good budget suggestion for a tire / wheel upgrade? Don't really want to deal with Clod sizes and prices, maybe something in between?

If you really want rims you can try a set of Stable Maxx wheels for more width(You'll need adaptors too.).The links I was referring too are the actual steering link.Truthfully if I could do it all over again,I would've went straight to the Clod wheels. Honestly just wait and use those resources too add on to what you get later!Your truck is gonna hold fine for now!I just gave away my old set.Once the clod wheels are on you're not gonna wanna go back! Trust Me! You're off to a way better start than most of us were(4real)!LOL!

Good to hear im2tall. I tend to be a a person who over thinks every little thing and it makes things more difficult than they should be. Sometimes you just need to pull the trigger, right :)

What type of adapter would i need for the stablemaxx rims?

So to go to Clod wheels: shopping list - Clod rim (chrome ones on ebay for $16 a set), some type of adapter (CPE makes some for $30?) any other options? And clod wheels (what would he best for backyard action?). Basically your looking at $100 minimum, man this hobby ain't cheap.

It would be nice to have a comprehensive list of wheel/tire options.
I may try the split six rim method as I like the look of those rims and it may be a bit more cost effective.

Will I need to strengthen or upgrade anything else on the axle to run the Clod wheels?

Wheel Talk:

I see the StableMaxx rims come in 14mm and 17mm, which would be better for this application or does it not matter since I will need an adaptor no matter what? Are the MAXX tires the only thing out there that will fit these rims? When I search 3.2 tires I don't find many options.

Clod Rims are Clod Rims right? There is no difference between the older white version and the new chrome ones? Are Bullhead wheels the same?

Are these an acceptable substitute for Clod Tires - >http://www.ebay.com/itm/351015240936?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Are 3.8 size rims/tires too big - > http://www.ebay.com/itm/351015240906?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Thanks for your continued support.....:rolleyes
