I thought I would tempt everyone with one of my new projects and a glimps of another in the back ground. LOL
Well tonight my Bruiser Bed showed up from Canada (Epay) and I began immediately cutting away at it.

Tomorrow I will have to get about 2 bottles of Brake Fluid and stip the 3-4 coats of paint and clear... man this thing is nasty looking.. But when I get done with it, this thing will be a GEM.
Well here is a pic after the cutting... LOL

After it is stripped I will be dropping the floor of the Bed and opening up the Tailgate... placing all the ribs back in it with the wheel wells.:willy

In the back ground is the Second Project for COLE as well that I will be working on at the same time.. Another Stretch (Quad) and dropped floor pickup bed.

I hope no one is crying over the no longer untouched Bruiser Bed...:tami

Thanks for looking.

Thinking of doing something like this?

Just a teaser shot until I get the rest of the truck done!

Yours should be cool, as you have always done top quality work!

You are dead on... Hey Scott would you mind sending just pics of the inside of the bed.. I would like to see some close shots of the sides and tailgate and the front of the bed of how they were completed.

If you dont mind, you can just send them to my personal email.

Thanks
Bart

Hey Bart, nice work so far on that. crazy clean cuts!
how did you get the knife into the corners so well?

Hey Scott, I still don't know if the paint or body work is better on that ford of yours.

Bart,
I will try to take some shots today and get them to you.

Forrest,
When the whole truck is finally finished, then a few people will be able to decide whether the body work, paint or engineering is best.

Forrest... a new blade on the Xacto knife and many many times going over the same cut. Once you have a good V cut, if you bend the bed a little at a time back and forth it will snap right on the Crease..

If you have ever done Sheet Rock work on your House it is the exact same principal...

However the sides in the picture are going to be cut off and new inside bed walls will be created.

I have pretty much finished up the front of the Bed that meets up to the CAB and started on the bed sides. Once I get closer to the back I will start cutting the bed to seperate the Tail Gate. I will have new pictures in the next couple of days.

Here is a Reference Pic that mine is being based off of... it is a 1989 toyota longbed..
Minus the dirt and leaves of course.. :rof

Updated Pics:
Here are some updated pics of the front of the inside of the bed and tailgate opened up... Rolling along quite nicely I think.. The tape is to hold the insert to the bedsides and tailgate.

Of course the pic is just set with the Hubs to see what is coming... definately not going to be a Lowrider by any means.. :tmb

Next step is to start working on the siderails and sides of the (Inside of the bed). Should be really easy.
The front of the bed is still rough, I will have to either smooth it out using JB Weld or Bondo to take out the sharp lines

Awwww, you're not going to include the dirt and leaves? :D

Looking good! Please keep posting photos of the progress. I'm always interested in seeing how Tamiya styrene bodies can be modified in different ways.

that is GREAT work, looks very good :tmb

However that era bed isn't true scale without rust :wnk In fact around here toymotas can't be found with a bed. Being on an island they started rotting on the dealer lot. Must have been the way the bed was built, because the cabs were not half as bad.

Still, your modeling skills are awe inspiring, keep posting :pics and I'll keep :drool

Updated Pics of the Toyota Bed with Hinged Tailgate

HI everyone, here are the updated pics that I promised everyone. The inside of the bed is pretty much completed. Just have to put the bed runners on the floor and the Inner fenders and it will be complete.

Here you can see the tailgate open and the side hinges to hold it in place from dropping all the way down.

Here is the bed with the tailgate partially closed to see the hinges at work.:tmb

Then of course the underside with the runners length ways to strengthen the floor of the bed just like a real truck.

Let me know what you think... I am impressed for the 1st one it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Need to figure out the Latches that hold the Tailgate shut, and then the bed will be completely all scaled out.. LOL

Thanks for the tip.. I think I am going to make the original toyota handles to hold the tailgate shut... Just like they are on the bed now but I am thinking of making them functional.

Update of the Inner Fender well for the Bed

Good luck on the Wheel Wells!

What do you mean by Good Luck... This is definately not the difficult part.:reye
Well... 4 hours later and I have one Inner Fender well finished... LOL made all out of Styrene... About 8 layers of 1.5mm's styrene to get it the right height.

Here are the updated pics.

Hey Cole... What do you think of this? Is this what you are looking for on your 350 you sent to me?:rock

I am thinking with your I will do a Flip Kit with your tailgate handle and put it on the inside of the bed.. if I can figure out how to do it it will function to unlatch the tailgate so you can open it..
