Well just got off the phone with Redcat again. Talked to a different guy this time.
I have to send in the whole truck so they can test everything on it, I have to pay for shipping there, but he said that they will cover shipping back and parts and labor. Guess we will see how this goes.

Sorry for all the bashing I have been throwing out there, Im just so extremely frustrated!! Like i had posted before I would love this truck if it didnt have this radio glitching problem. Yes there are other tweaks that need to be done, but the truck itself is put together nicely, hats off to Brett for designing it, but wishing whatever issues Redcat has with this radio they would get that figured out.

I don't think your wrong. What I hate is that sometimes you have to pay $ to learn to not do business with some companies and their products. If your gonna lose money lose $50 on a new radio and not the whole truck. hope this pans out for you.

Just an idea...swap out the two radio systems. put the 2.4 in your truck and put the GP one in the crawler. That would narrow down if it's a crystal issue.

Very true, but I already have it boxed back up, just the way it came, and im gonna head down to ups right now and send it back. Im kinda of curious on how well this turns out for me (the customer). Thanks all of you guys for the support and advice you have given me on here so far.

Btw the last guy I talked to at Redcat was Billy, he was understanding and hopefully is trully trying to help this situation.

Glad they are taking care of you. I know your frustration all too well. I got a slash 4x4 when they were released last year for my Xmas present. The radio didnt work out of the box either. I tried several things and after it running away full power across my rc work bench decided to call them. I ended up shipping them the TX and RX on my dime they sent it back saying it worked fine I dont know what they did but it worked. I was without my new toy for about 2 weeks thankfully I didnt have to ship the whole thing back and I had a radio in another truck I borrowed. I am sure they will get you back on to pounding the ground lol. And speaking of cheap made radios I have 2 Traxxas link 2.4 TX and both have issues. So Redcat isnt the only ones with issues. Once in a while quality control misses stuff.

I know it happens, I just had to take a deep breath and relax. I guess I am just used to my old reliable trucks I have had for years, especially my Nitro Pede. The only thing I have had to replace on that thing in 10 years was the steering servo and the front a-arms and those 2 were just this past year. Its even still on the original engine.
Im thinking I should have just put my money into restoring my '87 Clod or got the Mad Force like I was hoping for. Oh well Im sure this will turn out to be a good truck once I get the problems fixed.
Think my heart is in Nitro at this point still, havent been able to get anything brushless yet.
My oldest son has a 2wd Slash, actually working on masking off a new body right now, and we got our 4yr old a Exceed 1/10 Rock Crawler that came with a 2.4 radio for a little over a hundred bucks, lots of aluminum on that think too.

I too had problems like that, at first the ESC was bad and then it started to glitch after awhile again even with a new Duratrax ECS.

I discovered on my GP, when I had it, that the metal antenna holder was RAZOR sharp inside the holder and it was cutting and exposing the antenna wire which I believed to cause my glitching problems. I replaced the antenna wire but I kept having other problems that I never got it fully figured out.

I finally sold it out of frustration and I will never get another nor recommend one to anyone and it was the biggest waste of time and money I spent.

I should have gotten a Clodbuster at the time instead.

Redcat recieved the truck today from UPS, so now lets see how they work. I really wanna give them the benefit of the doubt, but still unsure.

Totally understand Gravedigger1, I hope it works out for me, if it doesnt I will be extremely upset and be hitting myself for not getting the Mad Force Kruiser like I was going too. Hell for that matter I could have put that 250 into my origianl Clod.

I just will have to control my temper because my wife is the one that picked out the GP for me.

Isnt the mad force like $425.almost 3x the GP, for a toy.Cant justify it.So let say you dumped $150 into the GP,your still +$.

Sorry I was talking about getting the Nitro Mad Force Kruiser, $325 at amain.

Would love the BL Kruiser, but that would have been too much considering I would have still had to buy a charger and 2 lipos.

When I first saw the Ground Pounder teaser pics I wanted one...bad. I never buy first production run of anything though, as there are always bugs that pop up in production that don't surface during testing / prototype phase.

I would still like to get one of these truck eventually but it seems like it is still having more than it's fair share of issues. Of all the issues the truck as experienced, are any of them getting cleared up? Spurs stripping, shock issues, axles breaking, glitching electronics...these seem to be themes that continue to carry on from each generation of truck.

Not trying to bash here but I'm curious if Red Cat is taking any steps to clean up these issues and make a better truck. Again, I'd love to pick up a Ground Pounder (especially with that gray chassis...) but not if I'm just buying into issues. I think I would be more apt to buy one if it was offered as a kit as BC.livewire said.

They won't be offered as kits since the overall cost of the electronics and the popularity of RTR vehicles doesn't make that a feasible option.

Spur gears were addressed with the introduction of the V3 kit as tha includes a 2nd transmission brace to keep things from shifting. A 48P spur/pinion isn't really the best to run brushless with, so more agressive Mod1 gears are available as direct bolt-ins if needed.

The shocks are designed to be stiff so the truck will basically flat track around corners. If they're softened up, the truck will lean into corners and either flip over or require sway bars. I didn't want either of those things, so I went with stiffer shocks. It takes about 5 minutes though if you want to enlarge the holes in the shock pistons and change the shock oil though.

I'm not exactly sure about the electronics issues as those parts were already available and were simply chosen for the truck. I do know that with the Ground Pounder's aluminum chassis that the routing of the antenna tube is critical as the chassis provides more chances for interference than a plastic one would have.

Electronics issues are some of the most difficult issues to get a handle on, so I understand some of that frustration. I did however, send an email outlining a few things that could be done to troubleshoot the electronics on the truck. I didn't receive a response to that, but it doesn't mean that issues are being ignored by myself or Redcat...

Thank you for replying Bret, I didnt mean to start trouble I was just extremely irritated at the whole situation about 'my particular truck'. I know Redcat issues what radio systems that they want for each individual truck, so I am not blaming you in any way. Like I had said before the build of the truck is top notch especially for the price, but the the eletronics are something to be desired.

JK, I believe Bret has fixed almost all of the original problems with the truck on his end, that is one main reason I did end up getting one. I was seeing how he was handling things and wanted to find out for myself first hand how good of a truck it was, unfornately for me I got a bad batch of electronics in the truck.

I just really hope that Redcats team does a good job and making their customers happy, I will find this out shortly and let all of you guys know.

No, I spec'd the radio/ESC too. I just didn't design either as they were already in use elsewhere.

Did you receive the email I sent you a few days ago? Redcat asked me to contact you about the issues you were having to help with troubleshooting for them.

I will 100% guarantee that Redcat will do a good job handling this issue...

I can tell you, that with a little bit of modification, and a brushless motor, the Ground Pounder freakin rocks ! I do break parts here and there, but the things I've done while driving it.. wow.
I mean, jumping the truck, having it do 4 summersaults, and then land back on the wheels and keep going.
Just don't do cartwheels if you can help it; you Will break a suspension link or two.
If you add the right selection of parts, you can make the GP awesome.
