We all know this is illegal, against paypal rules. And add 3% is a peeve of many.
Should we add it to RCMT's rules too?

Yes we should add this as a universal rule. Its called SELLER fees not buyer. You chose to sell, so you should choose to pay those fees.

Agree with Chilly. If you are selling something it is on you to pay the fees. Maybe instead of asking for something that you want $50 for you put a price on it for $53.

What I have been doing lately is tossing in a couple extra bucks to help with the fees because they are so irritating.

    This x100.

The meager 3% fee is the SELLERS burden to bear for access to a luxury like paypal.

It's against Paypal's terms to list that the buyer is to pay 3% extra to use Paypal anyway, so I don't see where this is even a question. If someone WANTS to send payment as a gift, great. If not, that's the cost to use Paypal's services.

    fees

If I sell something I agree with having to pay the fee. I think it should be a rule here too. No Gifts! Seller prices the Item and pays all fees!

Agree 100% !!! No seller should be allowed to require you to send it as gift or add the fee.

Now it's someone I do business with all the time or a friend, then I have no problem sending it as a gift ... I'm usually getting a deal, and figure it's something I can do to give a little back ... and PayPal makes more than enough on my other purchases to cover the few times I do this (so I don't feel too bad for them).

It is just plain dumb that a seller would state that the buyer is to pay an additional 3% to cover fees. It is absolutley the seller's responsibility to factor in that cost when setting the asking price.

didnt see this till right now. i will vote for it but with circumstance. i just completed 2 deals with long time members and i used the "gift" option as i trust them 100% with everything. for new purchases or for selling to newer people i always suggest using the regular paypal payment which includes the 3% fee's.

either way i will follow the rules.

Part of the problem is the poll doesn't show up on tapatalk. I probably view this forum 80% of the time on my phone, so I didn't realize there was a poll assocaited with this thread until just the other day. That could explain some of the low numbers.
