that tamiya primer you linked to is a lacquer based, so good for lacquer or enamel paints

automotive primers are thick because they are meant to fill imperfections and be sanded. Not really what you want for a r/c model unless you are using auto paint too

I've used WeatherShield and ColorPlace grey primer on plastic black chassis with no problems.
Also used it on ClodBuster hardshell bodies but found it a little extra work to covering up the primer with white paint.

I just took my axles apart this morning,and I've used Krylon Fusion paint for plastic (Red Pepper 2328). Tell me what you think?
